Great evening & the people really made it!
Thank you Boxcar for making the hubs bday & an amazing night! We just came in as a date night but fell in love with the staff. No one was angry, very welcoming & it was so refreshing! Thank you!

Boxcar is always a fun time. Old school arcade games, a full bar, and free popcorn! Great place to go with friends or on a date night. They also usually have a live band outside. The bar is decently price. Dog friendly as well.
The only issue with the place is how absolutely crowded it gets. Friday through Sunday the place is absolutely packed. At times, you can hardly move around in the place without bumping into someone. It used to not be like this but now the secret is out. Still a good time but it has definitely turned us off slightly.

I only have great things to say about Boxcar Bar. I ended up over here after dinner with a friend and I had a blast. Tons of arcade video games, to air-hockey to skee-ball. Awesome beers on tap, fast and friendly service. This place rocks, so if you are looking for something fun to do in the Downtown Raleigh area, look no further. This is your spot!

Wow, a blast from the past. This bar arcade was a lot of fun. Games from early 80’s, pac man, centipede, donkey Kong, galaga, bunch of pun ball machines, and ski
ball. All this fun plus the alcohol. What a great idea. You just have to try it out!!!! Great night of fun.

All my faves from way back- Centipede, Pac-Man, Frogger, Galaga, real Air Hockey and a huge choice of Pinball machines! Also, $4 draft beer!!! We had a blast!

LOVE the retro games here and the atmosphere! It can get a little crowded, but it’s still so much fun! This has been one of my favorite date nights with my boyfriend!! We can’t wait to go back :)

We sat at the bar for 15 minutes waiting for service, and now help. We left at went else where. If you can’t help the people who are right if your face, then your a waste of space!

Took kids there after dinner downtown. They r not used to the old style arcAde to it took a bit of an adjustment. Once they got tokens and started playing games all was good. Have an 8 and 12yo and both found games. Games are no more than 4 tokens and most are only 1 or 2. They allow kids from 4-9 which is smart since the after dinner drunk crowd starts rolling in after. Have to keep an eye on them as people Are in and out and they can be out in a second without you knowing.

Tokens are 4 for $1 and can be purchased by either cash or credit. Most arcades take 1 token, most pinball, skee ball and air hockey take 2 per player/game and Nintendo systems are free to play.
