Came to Robe to try the famous seafood after the town was recommended to us by a friend.
Of 20+ restaurants in town, only one sells lobster and they're shut.
Very disappointing for a town that boasts about it's lobster and seafood.
You can't buy it anywhere!
I guess we'll spend our money in Portland or Warrnambool, VIC.

What a beautiful beach.
It is very long and the sand is well packed making it easy to drive on.
We had a lovely picnic about half way along.

A much more limited wee town than expected with only a few restaurants, small beach and little yo do. Our accomodation was touted as 'boutique' but was very basic.

Stunning blue water, soft sand, rugged coastline, the coast of Robe has everything to offer, scenic and beautiful. Love this place!

Well isn’t this place a hidden gem off the beaten track!! So pleasantly surprised to discover this place on our drive towards Adelaide. It’s a must stop even if it’s just for morning tea!!

Lovely beach, great to walk on and peaceful rolling waves. One thing I notice about all of the beaches I have visited whilst in South Australia is how clean they are, up to now I have only found one plastic bottle, and that wasn’t on this beach.

Robe Beach is not the best beach around but it is right at the very interesting and historic township of Robe and worthy of some time when there. The views are excellentat night and the whole place is very good. Recommended

Excellent rugged beach with some sand. Great views out and you can occasionally I believe see Right Whales passing by in the Colder Months.

This path is used in equal measure by tourists, dog walkers, exercisers and locals just looking to get outside. Must admit I lost the track in the Sea Vu caravan park and ended up on the beach, but suspect I wouldn’t have had a problem walking in the other direction. Unlike other costal pathways we’ve been on, this is really well marked and has a good, wide, flat surface so if you have any ankle or knee issues as we do, it’s still easily doable. The pathway connects the town beaches, shops, some town sights such as the customs house and coastal sights such as the obelisk. There are plenty of car parks too so if you want to walk sections and drive between others, that’s also doable. A really good coastal path.

I been searching in Maps and Google Maps for the location of Factory Bay but I can’t find it. Has the name changed? How do we go there from the Obelisk?

Is there any sea glass on the beaches around Robe. I've heard about Factory Bay but am curious if any of the other beaches have it?

Thanks so much to everyone who answered. I ended up spending 2 days at Factory Bay (Glass Beach) and collected some lovely sea GLASS. Apparently at some point in the towns' history that beach was used as the local tip. All the glass dumped there has broken up on the reefs, been perfectly polished by Mother Nature and washes back up on the tide. One local told me there used to be much, much more there. There wasnt a great deal of variety of colors but the pieces I gathered were so perfectly smooth. I'm not a greedy collector, only took what I needed and left plenty behind. I also spent a few hours down at the jetty while my hubby went fishing - there was a fair amount there too. Can't wait to get back there someday, Robe is such a special place. 3 days was not enough, a week at the minimum is needed to explore everything! We stayed at the Lake View Motel and loved it, the room was immaculate and the hosts were very friendly and helpful.

Just came back from Robe a week ago. There are signs almost everywhere that dogs are not allowed off leash daylight saving hours till after Easter. Some are on leash all of the time, some from memory were off leash before 9am and after 8pm. The only off leash areas are out of town past 3rd ramp access which is from the Kingston Road with sign saying "Surfing" (doesn't actually say 3rd ramp. You can drive on the beach down to here. The other off leash is West Beach which has a strong rip, no good for swimming, so watch your dog if it likes the water. Locals say it is fairly relaxed but I guess at peak season they would be more diligent at patrolling. We found most beaches pretty empty during the week and Nora Creina 25 km away was a fave.
