Tour guide BethAnn is the best! Her extensive knowledge of the home, the Bellamy family and Wilmington in general are beyond impressive. Her anecdotes and stories are shared in such a way that, at times, I felt as if I was cast back 100 years to experience what life was like back then.
The 90-minute paid tour is a must for anyone truly interested in immersing themselves in Wilmington's rich history.

We took at 10am guided tour with Christina. She was amazing. It was just my friend and myself so she asked how much time we had and what we wanted to focus on. She gave us a great overview and I learned so much! The guided tour is only an extra $5 and more than worth it. There is so much history in that little corner of Wilmington that you would never guess. Just an FYI: the house does not have A/C.

Expensive tour for not much in the home and audio confusing at times. Audio tour lackluster to keep our interest. Union headquarters at one time.

Took the docent led tour. BethAnne was very informative. I liked that they use listening device which allows you to hear guide even when not in same room. This was helpful because due to my mobility issues I chose not to climb all the stairs but felt didn't miss anything. Agree with other reviews as to lack of furniture. Tour highlights this is rare urban slave quarter in existence. Also interesting display on 1898 massacre discussed in Wilmington's Lie. Overall recommend. Check schedule as docent led tour limited availability.

It’s just a big, empty old house, with slave quarters. Interesting to spend 15 minutes at.
The rooms are mainly unfurnished, the odd piece of furniture that is there is not original and in many cases is not from the period.
We paid close to $30 for two people (one senior) which included tax, for a self guided tour. Guided tours are quite a bit more expensive.
The outside of the house, and gardens are quite attractive.
In my opinion, it’s not worth the money.

I was given an option to read about the mansion or listen to an audio while doing a self-tour. When I walked inside I could hear a docent discussing the history of the mansion to a small group. I don't know why there was a tour guide available to some but not to others. The house is not completely furnished and most of the furnishings are not original to the house. I enjoyed touring by myself though, and probably learned more that way anyway since I could take as much time as I needed in each room. The house is large so if you start at the basement level you will need an hour or so to walk through. The admission for a senior was $13. There is a free parking lot at the side of the house.

Wish we could have gotten a guided tour but the "paper tour" is quite good. Easy walk from the Riverwalk area.

We recently went to the Christmas open house and was so impressed. The manion is beautiful and so full of history. We'll definitely be returning for the full tour in the springtime.

John was a great guide! This was my first time in Wilmington so a great way to start the day. House is beautiful and has some beautiful original pieces. Always interesting to learn the history behind the walls. Took about 1 hr 45 minutes but you can take your time to look around and take pictures after the guided tour, Everyone was pleasant and compassionate about the history of Wilmington.

We had a fabulous guide show us through the home. It held a lot of original house items like a pianoforte and a card table with lamps. The grounds are nice and the history of the house is interesting.

Our tour guide was wonderful and the tour was about two hours but offered great stories and insights to Wilmington during the Civil War era.

I don't remember what the cost of a senior ticket is. You're asking a senior who can't remember.
I do remember that the house is not air conditioned. It is worth being warm just to see it and hear about the family that lived there!

I believe you can purchase the tickets at the mansion on the day of your tour. But the downtown hotels and other venues always seem to be offering discount tickets, so you can beat the at the door price if you shop a round a bit.

Adults tickets are indeed $12.00. The package deals are good to explore as well.
I do wish that some of the places in town would come up with a family ticket -- and when teens are with a parent(s) that they might get a reduced rate, but that is a whole different issue.

Where do get passport tickets? Any photography restrictions? Is there a shuttle to take you to other sites? Can you buy tickets. On line? If you have any shuttles,do they pick up from area hotels?

Due to the historical nature of the structure, the mansion itself is not wheelchair accessible. However, we do offer a complimentary 30 minute video tour of the entire site shown in our handicapped accessible Carriage House. We hope you'll visit!
