Cameron Art Museum offers diverse exhibits including North Carolina artists Being community minded, CAM invites the public to Community Art Days, admission free, with children's activities and family entertainment. Jazz concerts and various events presented throughout the year keep the Cameron Art Museum fresh and attuned to the community.

What a wonderful art museum! They have indoor and outdoor exhibits, local artists as well as national/global, historical exhibits, wonderful restaurant and gift shop. Worth a visit periodically as exhibits change.

This is a small but mighty museum that reaches well beyond the walls of the building - it is a vibrant community space that makes everyone feel welcome. The art is top quality and often surprising. Because they operate on a rotating exhibit basis, it is a new experience every time I go. And the Cafe is terrific. From the front line staff to the security folks to the shop volunteers, everyone is friendly, knowledgeable, and committed to making your visit great.

This is a friendly museum with a gift shop, cafe, outdoor seating area and beautiful grounds. They have many community events, some of them free. The exhibits change periodically. The staff are friendly and helpful.

Love this place. Have been multiple times. Mix of art and history located on a civil war battleground site. Exhibits are always changing and fresh. Great cafe and gift shop with unique and local finds. No better way to spend an afternoon. Free to local students and discounts for seniors, educators and veterans.

A small gallery, but we thoroughly enjoyed our time there. Due to time constraints, we did not walk the grounds surrounding thegallery, but plan to do so on a future visit.

We had a wonderful time at the Cameron. It's a beautiful museum inside with many hidden treasures. Our stay was about an hour, perfect amount of time to explore the various exhibits, tour the gift area and purchase a small gift. The staff
was so present, they answered many of our questions and guided us well.

This was the second time I visited this modern art museum; my DH's first. We were with friends and had brunch before checking out the various art work.
It's not a huge museum but there was plenty to see. I'm not into a lot of modern art, but there were some things I really liked.
I was most interested in Minnie Evan's work. I didn't know anything about her and read about her after I got home. She was born in Long Creek, NC and passed away in Wilmington. This, for me, makes seeing her work more special - a local artist! Her work is quite colorful but also quite strange and unique. Google her, as I'm sure you will find her history very interesting.
I saw paintings by Miro, Warhol, and Dali. There were other works on display, some that were weird. There's a dark room that had umbrellas that were attached to accordion type machines that opened and closed the umbrellas, along with really weird music.
In one room there were some beautiful Mardi Gras costumes. Also on display were duck decoys.
The one thing we didn't like about the place was the lack of information or story about the artists that were featured (such as Minnie Evans). Or did we miss seeing the information?
This is definitely a place I'll return to, as I want to learn more about different artists; and maybe I'll become a member.

A special discovery. We were vacationing at the Blockade Runner in Wrightsville beach and the CAM was listed as a place to visit. I was especially attracted to the costumes of Alonzo V. Wilson from one of our favorite shows”Treme”. The outside Minnie Evans bottle house with her voice was moving. The Flying School by Diane Landry was a delight. If we visit Wilmington again—-we will come again and enjoy the cafe and of course the gift shop. If you enjoy art in all its forms—-the CAM is a gem.

Was invited to the "CAM" to celebrate my birthday. I thought we were just taking in some of the art exhibits. I did not know that we were not only appreciating art - but also having Brunch. The Museum has 3 staging areas, the Cafe and a small gift area. There are also outdoor seating areas that I was told often showcase live music.
It was a nice way to spend my birthday. It's not the MOMA but it's a lovely small forum for art appreciation.
The Brunch was lovely - the menu was small but contained interesting selections. Beer, Wine and Mimosas/Bloody Mary's were also available.
The Food was plated well and very well prepared.
It was raining on our visit so we did not have an opportunity to explore the grounds. I did notice a military status on the grounds which I researched and learned was the Civil War site of the Battle of Forks Road fought on February 20, 1865.
I enjoyed my visit so much - I decided to take a membership and look forward to the upcoming exhibits.
