Nice little museum in Dickinson. Very reasonably priced entrance fee and a good collection of real dinosaur bones and some replicas. Road and parking area seemed to be under construction and we were the only people visiting at that time so feels a little forgotten. Spoke with the employee and it seems like the museum may have changed ownership recently. I think it had been part of the university but had been turned over to the city. Certainly worth a quick stop to see the dinosaurs. Also had a nice outdoor park where we had lunch.

We visited here as part of a two-week-long road trip from our home in southeastern PA across North Dakota in the summer of 2023. This site has a nice mix of natural history and pioneer history displays. The Badlands Dinosaur Museum has nice exhibits of fossils, artifacts, etc., and an impressive collection of gems and minerals. The Joachim Regional Museum has many interesting regional history artifacts on view. The Pioneer Machinery Hall contained historic wagons, farm equipment, carriages, etc. After spending 60-90 minutes touring the museums, we stopped by the tourist center that is located by their parking lot, where we encountered friendly and knowledgeable staff members and excellent ND materials to take along.

Poor experience. The only building with access is the dinosaur hall. Everything else is locked up and staff don't tell you that you need a tour guide to see anything. They just told us to take the sidewalk up the hill and that there was no air conditioning in the small farm machinery building. Since we couldn't get in that was irrelevant .

We took our two boys (10 & 9 yrs old) & they truly enjoyed it. Our oldest is a rock/fossil enthusiast and there were A LOT of rocks/fossils. Our youngest enjoyed the dinosaur part of the exhibit. My husband & I liked the little part that was the history of Dickinson. It was very little, but great for how small & the cost!

Best for children. They had a great many minerals and rocks and I think a little disappointing for adults but a nicely done museum.

If you are driving in the area, this stop is definitely worth the time. Bit of paleontology, bit of gems, bit of local history.

We only planned on stopping in for an hour, but stayed two hours- we actually only left because it was closing time. There is so much to see at this museum. I originally was only interested in seeing the dinosaurs, but they had many gemstones to view, as well as a very interesting display of historical artifacts organized by decade. Staff was also very friendly. Definitely worth the stop, and would pop in again the next time we are in the area.

Truly a cultural gem for a small community with lots of interesting things to see and experience. This would be a great family outing that would capture the imagination of children and keep their interest. From fossils to gemstones to antique items that reflect the culture and history of the area, everything is well laid out and displayed. I highly recommend you put this on your to-do list when you are in the area.

This is well worth your time to see. We had four kids and they were facinated and kept interested the whole time.

A nice little museum you'd likely see in a bigger city. Spent a couple of hours here checking out the rock/gem and dinosaur exhibits.
