We only planned on stopping in for an hour, but stayed two hours- we actually only left because it was closing time. There is so much to see at this museum. I originally was only interested in seeing the dinosaurs, but they had many gemstones to view, as well as a very interesting display of historical artifacts organized by decade. Staff was also very friendly. Definitely worth the stop, and would pop in again the next time we are in the area.

Truly a cultural gem for a small community with lots of interesting things to see and experience. This would be a great family outing that would capture the imagination of children and keep their interest. From fossils to gemstones to antique items that reflect the culture and history of the area, everything is well laid out and displayed. I highly recommend you put this on your to-do list when you are in the area.

This is well worth your time to see. We had four kids and they were facinated and kept interested the whole time.

A nice little museum you'd likely see in a bigger city. Spent a couple of hours here checking out the rock/gem and dinosaur exhibits.

This is a surprising museum for a small city. They offer excellent casts of real dinosaurs, award-winning models of dinosaurs, and educational comments throughout. Some of the models give a hint at how impressive these creatures were.

This is a great local museum which is a worthwhile stop if you are in the area. The mineral display was beautiful as were the fossils including some really top notch depictions of extinct species. The history area was also interesting.

There was something for everyone. Dinosaurs, stones, heritage and equipment.. .my favorite part was the heritage. It showed different time periods and how things looked in the area (clothes, appliances, furniture, etc). The equipment building had a shack that had been moved and set up as it would have been in the past. The kiddos loved the dinosaurs and there were interactive things for them as well as a coloring center and a nice young man that talked dinosaurs with them for a while. It is worth a stop and set aside an hour or two depending on how much time you spend looking. The price was very reasonable at $6 for adults!

Neat little museum especially for kiddos who enjoy paleontology and geology. Some great history on North Dakota, Theodore Roosevelt and more.
There’s a working microscope station that kids can explore different textures and see them at a different level. Interactive geography/topography station was a huge hit with my kids too (age 7, 12, and 14). I loved the gem exhibit and my kids really enjoyed seeing the dinosaur info - and we all loved getting to watch the paleontologist actually cleaning some fossils in real time. My husband really enjoyed the old west history components as well - although we did not get to do the pioneer machinery part. You can tell staff really enjoy what they do and are passionate about their work! There was a paleontologist doing a coloring activity with kids and he did such a great job interacting with them and helping to answer their questions about dinosaurs. He was a treat :-)
