I went in to visit the Cultural Institute they were busy preparing to host a luncheon there so did not get to really view as well it was ok

We had found the Ukrainian Cultural Institute in information on ideas of what to do in Dickinson, ND. We were treated to a brief history of the Unkrainians and their move to ND in the late 1890's. We saw the beautiful altar where some services are held and items from the early Ukrainians in this area. Well worth the stop.

Quite exterior hides a very interesting collection of historical items. Many items donated by families of people who settled the area. If you like the decorated eggs of the Ukrainian culture this stop is not to be missed. There are many eggs, by local artists, for purchase. A short but informative video may be viewed on the making and history of the eggs. If you want to try decorating some the supplies may be purchased.

You'll be able to tour this quaint place in less than 45 minutes. The artwork (authentic Ukranian painted eggs), embroidering and quilting are exquisite. The docent was quite knowledgeable which made the visit that much more enjoyable. Of course, one can purchase eggs in the museum which we did!

This is a lovely little store, but, please don't be deceived that this qualifies as a museum. It consists of a 15 minute video about traditional egg decorating, display cases of the eggs, and 5-6 'family heriloom'-type artifacts. The rest is a gift shop with authentic Ukrainian items for sale. Find yourself some knick-knacks; you won't find a museum.

We screeched in from across the state just before closing and the kind staffer (Ellen? I'm sorry I've forgotten her name) let use stay to look around. Very nice little museum area. Beautiful embroidery, completely different than anything we have in my family. Prairie church altar preserved nicely. Bought a few things, including a book compiled by the UCI founder -- had no idea it would contain a photo of my great uncle! What a happy coincidence. Would have loved to visit longer but we didn't want to impose.

Lovely, knowledgeable people run a small museum (just enough info to absorb in a visit, well organized and with a cute gift shop). If you can, stop by mid-week when they have pyrohi.

This unique center shows a very important history and culture of the Dickinson area. They have a wonderful display, special gift items and you have the opportunity to meet descendants of German-Russians and Ukranians. They serve traditional foods during the week and during the Ethnic Fair in August. They sponsor a Ukranian festival which features a week of Ukranian dance opportunities for young people.
