The buildings look quaint, but really it's just a bunch of stores and restaurants. They have a Cows Ice Cream, and a Cows discount outlet for their shirts and other souvenirs. The Anne of Green Gable's chocolates have some different flavours in their chocolate bonbons, so that's kind of nice. You can have a walk around, but it doesn't take very long.

This used to be a period village to visit and see how they lived... but now it's a bunch of restaurants and a gift shop. The only real reason to stop here is because you're hungry, want ice cream, chocolate, or souvenirs.
That said, the Lone Oak here has a great (small) menu, their katsu is delicious. Skip MooMoo BBQ though unless you like a grilled cheese with no cheese.

We enjoyed going around the village and the restaurant La Rose bistro is to try. We were there twice and we were not disappointed. Hearty and delicious meals. Thank you.

It was a cute but small outdoor mall. There were several options to eat at. We tried the cheeseburger place. It was good. My daughter enjoyed the dill fry dip. We also enjoyed visiting the Cows store and ended up buying a few discounted shirts. The gift shop was also enjoyable to look around at.

This was not what we thought that was part of the problem. It was off season and everything was closed except the gift shop and the turkey restaurant. there are three original buildings on site the church and school and the yellow house the rest are stores and restaurants. Had a tourist trap feel and is not the location of the actual filming at all that is in Ontario actually

This 1999 recreation of what “Avonlea” could have looked like may be a place to grab a bite to eat, but otherwise it is a tourist trap.

It's cute. It's fun. We go every time we're visiting Green Gables and walk around the shops. But really we're there for the COWS ice cream and maybe another snack or a pint and a sit down. This is an outdoor mall cleverly decorated with curb appeal.

I was a huge Road to Avonlea fan as a kid and was hoping that this would be a similar experience to the Anne of Green Gables Museum...however I was slightly disappointed. Don't get me wrong, I would recommend visiting here as there is no cost and the shops are cute with loads to offer, I was just hoping as an Avonlea fan to find some attractions for this as well.

Tried a few places for a picnic lunch while the kids chased butterflies on the lawn. A few new locations opened since our last visit. Great to see the place expanding.

Is avonlea village as location of tv series named Road to Avonlea , the same as green gables ?

The town of Avonlea is fictional, but is supposed to have taken place in this area. After the popularity of the book, TV, and film, the people of the area decided to make this rendering. The Road to Avolea is based on the book, Anne of Green Gables. I don't know if any of it was filmed here.

I plan to visit PEI in mid September. I read from the Avonlea Village website that it would be closed after September 5. Can I still walk through the village on my own after September 5?

I can not say for sure but I don't think we saw any when we were there. It is possible they would be allowed as someone could stay outside with them at all times while others go into the buildings but I would try to call or email them directly to find out for sure.

Has anyone used the off road bike trails by the lodge? I see on the map of the park that the snowmobile trail doubles a bike trail.

I am sorry but we did not pay attention to the off road trails by the lodge. However, there is a trail that goes along the ocean and we did see lots of bikers all over. I would maybe suggest contacting the tourist information center in the Cavendish area and they would be able to help you with an answer..
