Book online for house tours

An interesting historic house. Sadly there are not enough seats in the Reed Barn or outside seating area to cope with coach loads of visitors.
How will they cope when the Rose Fair is up and running?
The gardens are nice and the house tours interesting although these fir some reason have to be booked online at present

Had a tour of the house, was absolutely brilliant thanks to Leslie the lovely man who told us all about the families that lived here, he is so knowledgeable, I was totally absorbed! The house itself is so lovely, and u can look in most of the rooms, would definitely recommend a visit here! Wisbech itself not so nice.

Absolute must do in Wisbech

The most glorious house and gardens. I went on the house tour and the guide was fantastic, knowing so much of the history of the house and surrounds. You almost felt you were a guest in the house. It has a lovely warm friendly feel.

Great for a family with teens s d grandparent.

What a fantastic NT property! Very friendly welcome from staff on the door. Beautiful gardens with lots of different sections. You think you have seen it all then you find another hidden section.
We took a grandparent and our teens - all of us had a great time. The teens loved all the garden games that were dotted all around the gardens in unexpected places.
The cafe was really good. The young man serving couldn’t have been more helpful in catering for us, he was especially good with the member of our party who has dementia and this made us all happy. 2 of our party have Coeliac disease and we felt safe eating here- there were separately packaged cakes and the crisps were also gluten free along with most of the ice creams available.
One of the nicest NT properties we have been too.

Lovely house

Loved the house and tour. Guides were knowledgeable and friendly. Gardens were really pretty. Cafe was a letdown. Stale scones, paper plates and disposable knives. Even coffee in a paper cup. Surely it would be better for the environment to use proper China and cutlery. It's hardly a big cafe. We so wanted cafe to be better than it was. Would recommend the house and gardens but don't waste money in the tea shop

Hello Thankyou for your review, i'm really pleased you enjoyed the house and garden. Sorry you didn't like the scones - they are baked fresh each day, so i'll check what went wrong. We are awaiting the installation of our new dishwasher, so in the meantime are using disposable cutlery/utensils. The Reed Barn (where the cafe is) is used twice a week for sessions which help people living with dementia and their carers, where they do crafts and activities, so it doesn't have the 'traditional' cafe feel, as it's a dual use space. If you don't want to use the tea room, you are most welcome to bring a picnic into the garden. Thank you Ben Rickett Peckover House

Surprisingly large gardens ...

We didn't get to go round the house but the "banking bit" was open and very informative it was ... with lots of artefacts to view and Info Boards to read.

The gardens behind the property are surprising big for a Town House. Nicely filled with aged plants/scrubs it's easy to walk the perimeter and admire the summer spectacle. They even allow you to wonder through the Victorian style greenhouses.

Do stop on one of the many benches to soak-up the sun and enjoy the peace and quiet.

Well Worth the Visit - Fantastic Tour

Visited yesterday and was fortunate enough to be booked onto a tour with Leslie. The house was stunning and the gardens immaculate. Well worth the visit. But really the house visit was enhanced by Leslie's fantastic Storytelling. He was articulate, passionate and set the tone perfectly. We have visited enough properties to know sometime the guides can be aloof and dont engage and tell the story - just appear to speak at you with facts. Leslie was a joy, approachable, engaging and you could tell he was passionate about the story of the families who had lived there, the property and the National Trust. Brought the house alive!

Guided tour of the house was great. The gardens are absolutely beautiful. Great cafe, recommend the cornish pasties! Lovely atmosphere and friendly guides.

Revisited after sometime away,excellent gardens and staff,pity their website isn’t clear about the cafe.Not much choice of snacks and no sandwiches available.

Hello and thank you for your review. I'm really pleased that you enjoyed the garden and found the staff to be good - i'll pass the review on to them. In regards to the Reed Barn cafe, our website states the following under 'Facilities': "The Reed Barn coffee shop offers a selection of scones, cakes and ice-cream as well as hot and cold and cold drinks." We make no reference to a selection of sandwiches, and only to the very simple offer which you saw on your visit. Thanks for your visit Ben Rickett Peckover House
