We visited on a Monday, and as such it was reasonably quiet, which was nice.
Parked in Chapel Road car park ( Free!) just a short walk from the house. Unsure which way to go, a kindly gentleman assisted us and offered to show us the way !
Greeted by a friendly lady on the door, and the layout explained and a map provided. First stop the cafe, and great service from Corey! ( very nice pasties!)
The gardens were lovely, enhanced by the sunshine, we even tried a game of croquet.
The house was splendid, but the story of the house and its occupants really adds the interest. A lovely ambience with classical piano music echoing around the house. Several guides on hand to explain the story of the house and the Peckover family. One guide, David, was of course familiar… the very same gentleman that assisted us in the car park earlier! Service beyond the call of duty!
As we entered the library I was blown away… the classical music I assumed was a recording was actually a chap playing the grand piano live! What a beautiful thing to do, I loved it!
The dolls house replica in one of the upper rooms was really interesting with a fantastic level of detail.
Overall it was a great visit which far exceeded our modest expectations.

Fascinating house, with great volunteer guides. Well worth visiting and we shall be back to visit again, wander in the pleasant gardens and have a meal at the cafe.

The beautifully proportioned Georgian house, though furnished from other NT properties, gives a clear insight into the Peckover family and their banking business. The guides were all very enthusiastic and made our visit very enjoyable. The garden is much larger than expected and nicely kept, and the cafe provided us with an excellent cappuccino.

Beautiful Georgian mansion situated beside the river in Wisbech. Fascinating history which was very well described by the guide.
The gardens are fabulous too, especially at this time of year when the roses are in full bloom.
Well worth a visit.

Very friendly and helpful guides. Had the use of a disability scooter to visit the garden, which was lovely. So much to see! Spent the whole afternoon there.

I can't put into words how stunning the gardens are, I've lived in Wisbech 50 years and this is the first time I have visited I really wish I had come a lot sooner. Thank you so much to Corey and Stephanie at the tea room, best flat white I've had for a long time and also a lovely piece of coffee and walnut cake can't wait for our next visit.

We stopped of here to break our journey home from the Norfolk Broads. It was a place to relax a while, have a coffee and cake, and be refreshed for the onward journey.
This turned out to be an amazing place. A warm welcome from a lovely lady and we were told about the garden and house. We headed first to the cafe - usual NT stuff. And then wandered around the garden. It was surprising just how much there was to see in this town centre garden. Lots of different areas with greenhouses too.
The house was special too. The gent on the door explained the basics of the house's history to us and people were in the various rooms too to explain more. It seemed a warm family house, not like some NT properties just done for show.

An offer for a visit to National trust properties led us to wisbech and peck over house.
Wisbech is a interesting place with many old buildings we managed to park close by and found the house very interesting but most of all the Gardens were amazing and free to enter
The flora and fauna were excellent and so well tended excellent gardening .
Particularly we were impressed by the handkerchief tree !!
Really lovely garden and we were lucky to have a warm sunny day !!

Popped into the reed barn tea room after a pleasant walk around the gardens for a bite to eat, our server Corey was very welcoming and professional, the hot chocolate and scone he served us was one of the best we've ever tasted, would definitely recommend and will most certainly be back again

We could only spend a few hours here and wished we could have spent much longer. The house was so interesting and staff very informative. Gardens were so well cared for and wonderful plants everywhere. We were made to feel very welcome and Louise the head gardener was very kind and was happy to answer all our questions and gave good advice. Cheese scones were delicious.

Thanks for the question.
You can indeed play the piano if you are at a reasonable level. There may be a volunteer pianist playing it when we are open, but if you just make them aware you would like a go, they will be very happy to stand aside for a bit.

Hello Millowman, If you are a NT member, you are free to use the tea rooms and have access to all the property for free.
If you are not a NT member, I am afraid you have to pay to go into the garden, as the tea room is at the bottom of the garden.

Hello, As a National Trust member for at least 11 months, had you not noticed on previous visits to this or other properties, that Non Members have to pay an admission charge? Then why did you think that the 3 people with you would not have to pay to enter this property on this occasion? or is your review just am spiteful attack because you lost face in front of your friends?

There isn't parking at the actually at the house but there is parking a short walk from it.
