We visited for my daughters 13th Birthday. I previously visited 23 years ago and finally made it back! I don't know where to start. Thank you perhaps. James on reception, we spoke for over an hour while our daughter was kept busy browsing the gift shop! He was so kind <3 The 2 keepers who we asked 101 questions too and they answered every single question, never did we feel rushed.
I came armed with a photo of myself with a snake (from 23 years ago) and they truly went a million miles out of their way to let me hold the same snake that was now 33 years old! I can't put that into words. It honestly meant more to me than you will ever understand. Just the biggest thank you.
The place is spotless, the animals are beautiful and so many of them! My daughters favourite was the Fossa and the Snow Leopards. My favourite will forever be Caspian the snake.
Cafe - My husband ordered a full breakfast with a few add on's and we had a couple of jacket potatoes too. The food was really good! And we were pleasantly surprised with the price too! (We would have expected to pay double!).
We spent the whole day there and we really could have stayed longer, but we needed to get on the road. I'd recommend for anyone to head there for a day out! If you're passing on the M6, it's totally worth the detour. It's a real little gem, family run and it is very clear that it is run by people who love these animals.
Thank you once again and I promise we won't leave it 23 years before we come back!

Today we did the fossa experience at the Lakeland Wildlife Oasis & despite the weather (rain, rain & more rain) we had the best time!
The staff are extremely knowledgeable & friendly. We really felt like we were given a VIP experience.
The charity has a real family feel maybe as at the heart of the zoo is an actual family with Leon & Ruth at the helm.
My husband booked me & fossa feeding experience as a Christmas gift & we finally made it up the M6! Mango is an absolute stud of a carnivore & just waiting for a lady fossa to love. We saw everything they had to offer & even saw the snow leopards being fed. That was amazing!
If you love your wildlife this is a great day out for all the family & fantastic value for money

Great little wildlife park with all sorts of fish, birds and other animals. They have a place to eat and drink and a little shop with some good stuff in it.

Excellent zoo, doing so much hard work to save endangered species. We haven't been since 2019, and so much has changed. There are lots of new animals/birds in new, spacious enclosures. The price of entry and cafe are good value, not a rip of like some zoos. All staff were friendly and helpful. I'm not sure what the last reviewer expects. Half an hour visit, no wonder you didn't see anything, you have to stand and look, animals don't just sit on show for you! We spent a good 4 hours here and saw everything except the elusive Gecko. Highly recommend. Keep up the good work!

Not sure what's going on here but there were only 3 butterflies, 2 birds, and 3 bats indoors, the lemur walk was shut, the walk in aviary was shut, several outside enclosures were shut, and the rest of the animals must have been in hiding.

Me and my 3 year old visited one rainy Saturday afternoon, arriving around 12:30 and leaving around 15:30. We used the “Kids Pass” app for free kids entry, so just paid the adult ticket price of £12.50. I think this is good value, but may have been disappointed at the cost if we didn’t have the discount. You enter into the gift shop, which is a nice change, you know what to expect and the littles have already seen it, so it’s not a big reveal at the end, unlike most places. Within the gift shop there is a toilet, which was clean enough - fairly standard.
From the gift shop you choose to explore the indoor exhibits (to the right) or the outdoor exhibits (to the left) in whichever order you choose. Personally I felt the indoor exhibits were much better than the outdoor ones. The first few fish/coral tanks were beautiful, we loved exploring where the ants and butterflies were, and the hedgehogs were the highlight of my daughter’s day. Outdoors, the birds stole the show, so many to see! The general layout was great, easy to navigate, and had a few cut-throughs if you didn’t want to follow the whole way around the path. This was very useful when my daughter decided she wanted to go back around the whole place a second time! Which is easy to do. The site feels safe and secure and it was nice to be able to let her run around and be free. We spoke to a couple of members of staff as they were going about their duties and they were friendly and knowledgeable. Some of the enclosures, however, seemed quite small for the number (or size) of animals inside them. Especially the snow leopards, and one giant fish that seemed not to be able to turn around in its tank.
I’d read on here that there was a covered picnic area, so we took a packed lunch, and was pleased to find the area easily. There are only three tables under cover though, so it was busy at times. Im glad we did choose this option, as although the cafe is advertised on the website as being open 10:00-16:00, it closed at 14:00. There were baked goods and ice cream still available in the gift shop after that time though. Also to note, a nice touch, there is free WiFi around the indoor section. Especially nice if you want to send videos etc to family who aren’t there at the time.
We probably will return, because the little one loved the butterflies and the hedgehogs so much, and this is the closest place to home where we can see them. And we will certainly only be returning using a discount, and like today, only one adult at a time! But all-in-all a nice little place for a few hours with a young one if you’re already in the area.

Don't be fooled by the outside, inside is a hidden gem. Not the largest wildlife park but the staff really care and are very friendly.. We booked 2 feeding experiences ( meerkat and lemurs ) and our guide ( Sam) was amazing, very helpful, informative and passionate about animal conservation.
I can not recommend this place highly enough.. Prices very reasonable.. They need our support to help fund lots of improvements and extensions they have planned for the animals.
Well worth the visit.

Brilliant zoo with an amazing variety of wildlife, we really enjoyed our visit and thought that all the enclosures were great and good to see that the animals had lots of space and enrichment.
For the price you'd be silly not to go.

How long does it take to get round the entire zoo realistically? I visited years ago and remember it being small but can’t remember how much time we spent in there. Thinking of stopping off on the way home from another day trip next week for a couple of hours.

I’d say a couple of hours at most! You could probably do it in about an hour if you really wanted!

I have the kids pass with us advertising free child entry with a paying adult can I book with this for Saturday
撰写日期:2020年8月12日
Sorry, not au fait with child entrance charges. Best to check with the website, though please remember you have to book beforehand for a slot.
撰写日期:2020年8月14日
I concur with Clive D. Please note, however, that the prices he has quoted include Gift Aid. Without Gift Aid the prices are lower. Concessionary tickets are £8.50/£7.60, A Family ticket (2A, 2C/2A,3C) are £29.50/£26.25 and £33/£29.70 respectively. Under 3s do not require a ticket. There are 25 tickets available per half hour slot, with first admissions at 10 a.m. Last admissions are 3 hours before the zoo closes which are 17:00 h daily except Friday when it is 20:00h.
You can book up to 2 weeks in advance. Face masks are to be worn in indoor areas including the shop and the cafe is serving hot and cold food.

Is the main part of the zoo inside/undercover? Hoping to visit soon but don’t want bad weather to spoil our enjoyment of the animals
撰写日期:2019年3月10日
There are reptiles, insects and other animals indoors but the main animals such as the snow leopards, lemurs and birds are outside.
撰写日期:2019年3月11日
It is all on level ground with paths leading all around the site, so I would say it was accessible for wheelchair users.
The staff were very kind and friendly

Are you still able to hold some of the animals such as the tarantula, snakes etc.
撰写日期:2018年7月28日
Thankyou for your query.
We still do handling sessions within our bug encounter and meet the reptiles talks - animals typically used in these are cockroaches, stick insects, land snails, skinks and snakes. We do not currently use tarantulas within our bug encounters.
I hope this helps.
