Welcoming guide for over an hours worth of a tour. Took part in a rope making demonstration which was interesting. The guide was extremely knowledgeable, approachable and entertaining. Be aware, some parts of the cave require crouching down. Fully recommend the experience

We stumbled across the caves and was contemplating paying the £20 each to go in, Guide was informative and was interesting about the rope making but you don't really go that far into the caves and nothing with any wow factor like the photos on the posters show. Kids under 12 fidgetting getting bored which is distracting when you are trying to listen. They need to drop the price by half came out feeling extremely ripped off.

Great adventure! Enjoyed hearing the history of the cavern, the cavern itself was fab and knowing it was formed naturally is just amazing! Great tour guide with lots of knowledge! I did think it was a pit pricey (£20 pp) but we really enjoyed it so it is worth a visit! (If you park in the caverns car park you can reclaim £2 back in parking)

We were there for 1:15hrs and it was way too much. Lovely bloke but short and sweet might be ideal as people stopped listening. Also saw loads of people leaving during the tour. £20pp overpriced for what it was.

We had an hour’s tour and both myself and my sister really enjoyed it! Chris held everyone’s attention and kept us all involved - both adults and children. The tour itself was so interesting. We learnt loads and had a laugh too! Defo recommended

The tour guide yesterday 1pm was really good and friendly and had a great sense of humour however other than that it felt massively overpriced, granted we didn’t do much research beforehand we just heard there was a cave near-by and wanted to check it out, wasn’t until we got there that we realised you can’t just go in and look around yourself but it’s a propper attraction and you have to pay and be given a tour and a history lesson, which I didn’t mind as it’s always good to learn a thing or two but given the choice I’d of paid less and skipped the history. That’s just me though, several others while we waited turned up, saw the price laughed and walked away. without the guide it would have been a 5/10 min thing to go in and look around. For the over priced cost I would have expected an information booklet included and maybe a hard hat, as my friend hit her head pretty hard, I live in Birmingham and it’s full of days out and attractions that last all day for the same price, for example the Black Country museum this is a whole town from the olden days that’s been preserved and takes all day to look around they have underground mines to explore included in the overall price (and they give you a hard hat) and they have immersive attractions and actors etc all around the town and it’s £20 and once you pay it you can go back all year for free, just one example, and it’s absolutely full of history. I feel (just my personal opinion) I like caves for the nature aspect and to take pictures, I didn’t really go for the history so might have been nice to have the choice to go in for a cheaper price just to look and take pictures without the information and tour but that’s just me and like I said that’s no reflection on the tour guide as he was lovely and good at his job. However after seeing how cocky some of the replies are to other peoples reviews it’s made me wish I didn’t give over my money as it comes across unprofessional. If everyone has the same complaint you should probably consider what they’re saying. And there’s several other caves near-by one with a boat trip which after looking online is cheaper than this.

Thanks for your feedback. Speedwell cavern (the one with the boat trip) is the same price as peak cavern. Research, as you mentioned in your feedback is important

We took our two young boys on Easter Monday as the weather was not looking so good. It was an enjoyable experience but in my opinion overpriced. The tour is only one hour (which we knew) but there was not much to it. We learned how the rope makers lived and how rope was made and then walked down the cave and back. What I am trying to say is that £64 family ticket is a bit steep for what it is. We paid £20 less to go to Chatsworth gardens and spent there 5 hrs there!!

I’m guessing 5 hours in a garden is better than a historical tour in cave to escape the rain is why we got 3 stars

My understanding from the website was that ..............
'The tour is fairly undemanding on foot. There are a few steps with hand rails. Nothing too steep. The floor can be wet and uneven in places.'
In reality, I found it extremely challenging. Many of the pathways were very uneven and slippery and there were several steep steps to negotiate. The 30 metre section of low roof is exceptionally low and I found it extremely difficult to get through especially with a capacity crowd both in front and behind me.
I have a hearing impairment and I was unable to hear anything that the guide was saying apart from fleeting moments when her face was illuminated at certain points during the tour and I was able to lip-read. Most of the time, her face was in darkness, especially during the over-long rope-making segment.
With such a large group, the guide's voice needs to be amplified as my teenage grandsons with normal hearing wasn't able to hear her either.
We arrived in plenty of time for our tour but the car park was full. We drove around for 10 minutes looking for somewhere to park but couldn't find anywhere so my husband had to drop myself and grandsons off and he spent the next 90 minutes driving around aimlessly. As a result, the cost of his ticket was wasted.
I spent £70 on our 4 tickets as my 16 year old grandson is classed as an adult. I can definitely think of a better way of spending 70 quid.

What a shame you thought this wasn’t for you. Visiting one of the most popular tourist spots in the Peak District national park on a fair weather bank holiday weekend is always going to be busy. The car parks are for everyone not just the caverns. All our social media in the days ahead of holidays, offers travel and parking advice. The website descriptions are accurate on the terrain. The social media descriptions on the terrain are accurate. We are a cavern and a cave, of course it will be damp and wet. We have to be accurate. We have no steep steps. There are 15 very wide and long steps at a small incline with handrails. There are 6 small steps with a handrail further in the cave. The low section for 20m requires people to bend. It is neither exceptionally low or 30m. Again, website, social media, info posters at the cavern, along with pictures provide detailed info. Our gate info clearly says, if you are unsure of any aspect of the tour, please ask at the kiosk. As for the ropemaking…that is the whole point of the tour. The tour is the story of the ropemakers that lived in the cavern for 400 years. Ropemaking will feature prominently in our tours. If you have a hearing disability why did you not tell us, we would have made sure you were near to the guide and the guide would have looked at you directly. Caves are naturally dark places. Lighting is designed to showcase its natural elements. Overlighting the cavern would completely ruin the ambience of this historical ropemakers story. Thank you for your considered feedback which we have noted

Had a fabulous day in the Devils Arse. Our guide Chris made our day. His description of the history of the caves was brilliant. He described the past events clearly and concisely. He had a bit of devil in himself and that showed throughout the visit as his humour kept us all on edge.
Great Day, highly recommend.
