Really good value for money. The self guided app was excellent I could take my time and pause whilst I took photos and I would have missed some of the features without it. The staff were brilliant explaining what to expect and making sure the app was working. The history was fascinating and the small museum with its exhibits another attraction. And at the end the view across Hope Valley stunning.

Stunning Cavern!
A spacious Cavern with beautiful stalagmite & stalagtite formations.
There are quite a lot of steps to get to the Cavern, then lots more steps inside so not for people with health or mobility issues.
Although dogs are allowed inside the Cavern, we are glad we left ours at home as the cavern isn't really dog friendly due to the numerous steep steps and narrow walkways.
We think it could actually be quite a stressful & difficult environment for dogs, so if you can we would advise leaving them at home.
Interesting information and items on display and a great little shop where jewellery and other items made from stone extracted from the Cavern can be purchased.
We really enjoyed our visit and would definately recommend!

This was amazing. We walked from centre of Castleton. It took about 30 minutes walking at a steady pace. When you get to the bottom of the entrance there is a fairly steep path but definitely worth making the effort to get to the visitors centre. We did the tour on our own as there was only the 2 of us but we downloaded the app and got the guided tour that way. You come out higher then where the visitor centre is but the view is stunning. There are handrails all the way down and it's value for money.

All the staff I spoke to were very friendly and helpful.
I was pleased that I'd looked into the number of steps; as I'm not the fittest of people.
I took my time, taking regular breaks, to catch my breath. I was very impressed with the super grippy strips, on the wet slopes, in the cavern. There was one genuine 'wow' moment and I returned to one spot a couple of times, because there was so much to see. It took me a while to download the app and start the commentary, I also didn't realize that the next chapter started automatically and kept restarting the tour; then it dawned on me that you simply swiped to the left, to move onto the next page. I also enjoyed the souvenir stone polishing bit at the end and I'm hoping that I will soon be able to arrange delivery of several bottles of the next batch of Treak Cavern beer. They sold out over the Platinum Jubilee Weekend.
The cavern is not spectacular; but it's definitely worth a visit. There's also a stunning view down the valley, when you exit the cave further up the hillside, and the giftshop has something for everyone.
I'm glad I did this trip, as the following day I had the confidence to make the climb up to Peveril Castle and the top section of Mam Tor.

We walked past this whilst on the way up Mam Tor and checked to see if there were any spaces available (having not booked). The man behind the desk was very friendly and accommodating and slotted us into the caverns within 20 minutes. We ate an ice cream whilst waiting for our time slot. Of the caverns in this area, this one is the cheapest. It cost £42 for 2 adults and two children (age 11 and 14). The cavern is a self guided tour via an app on your phone. This is a good idea as you can go at your own pace and you can hear easily what is being said as the audio was clear and you can rewind if you miss a bit. It can get a bit annoying if several other people have their audio going in the same bit of the cavern as you. Luckily this didn’t happen much. The audio information given was interesting. The caverns are fascinating. They aren’t huge and took about 40 mins to go round. You could do it much quicker if you weren’t listening to the audio although it is lovely to look at so surely you wouldn’t want to rush around it much quicker? It was 11 degrees down there. Dogs are allowed.

I visited the cavern on 2nd June, as I have already seen all of the super caves and caverns in the area. Due to a previous experience at a mine in Wales last year, when I got into the cavern, I felt scared and came straight out. It was nothing to do with the cavern, I just started to panic thinking about the mine in Wales and remembered feeling claustrophobic in the mine. I left my partner to carry on with the cavern tour, and went to sit outside and wait for him. One of the tour organisers came to see me and very kindly offered to let me go in through the exit, where it quickly opened up into a large cave, and I knew I could exit if I wanted to. I had not said anything to the organisers, and so was very touched that he came to spend time taking me into the cave so that I would feel safe. He not only went in to show me where the cave started, but also went to find my partner. I stayed in the cavern and really enjoyed the tour. I am so glad that I went in, as I don't think I would ever have gone int a cave again, but now I feel confident that I can. I can not thank him enough for his kindness, time and for ensuring I am not left with a phobia. The cavern is great to visit, lots of large rooms with a great self guide tour. Highly recommended.

The caves are beautiful, with the chance to see some amazing fossils, stalagmites and stalagmites, as well as a museum to learn about it's history! The self-guided tour app was really informative

Interesting cave to explore and great to be able to do so at your own pace, using the self-guided App. The staff really stood out for being friendly, helpful and exuding a genuine passion for the cave and their jobs.

We went to Speedwell Cavern on the misunderstanding that it contained an underground lake. Then we saw the sign for Break Cliff. The Museum and other exhibits were excellent and our visit to Speedwell would have been enhanced if we'd gone to Treak Cliff first. We didn't go into Treak Cliff because we'd already spent £18 on Speedwell but I think I'd rather have seen the Blue John Cavern.

The blue John stone in the cavern was beautiful, and there were some amazing tropical sea fossils inside the cave. The audio tour was fantastic, and there was a stunning surprise view when we left the cave at the end. We went on a sunny Saturday morning on a bank holiday weekend and had the caves to ourselves for most of the tour - a hidden gem!

How long does it generally take to go around it all??
Hi you will be underground for around 45 minutes. There is also a small free to enter museum on site, a gift shop and a cafe where you can get refreshments and a light meal.

I would as even in what seemed a quiet day as we arrived two prebooked coach parties arrived which would have delayed us by two hours.
