What a lovely museum - reflecting not just the original All Creatures but the current C5 version and the Yorkshire Vet.
Lots to look at and a couple of films.
Allow 2 hrs for your visit.
Free use of wheelchairs if needed, the building is fully accessible for anyone who needs to use a wheelchair.
All for less than £35 for 4 people.

I have waited ages to visit World of James Herriot and I was not disappointed. Really well set out, lots of information, opportunities to take photographs and staff are very welcoming. The fairly new top floor is excellent for children, lots of interactive activities. I would highly recommend.

The museum is located on one of the main streets in Thirsk. There is no onsite parking however there is parking nearby. Entry is via the shop then you are directed into the house. Walking through the front door was like stepping back in time. The rooms were set out as they would have been in the 1940s. Lots of information boards to read and a great interactive room for all ages. Also a barn type setup at the back of the building where a short video is played. Part of the building has been setup as a TV set which was fascinating. Whether you are a fan or not, its an interesting place to spend a couple of hours.

Great to see both the house and the scenes from the the tv show. The children’s interactive area was great for both young and old 👍

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit here. Lovely to go back in time and remember how hard life actually was in those days. There is so much to see and some fun interactive features too. We would definitely visit again as I'm sure we missed some things. The lady at reception was very friendly and helpful too.

So a place based around animals that does not allow your 4 legged friends to join you.
Allows kids but not dogs, why o why.
Some people don’t want pets spoiling their enjoyment, some people don’t want kids spoiling their enjoyment, but as a place that is based around animals why not allow pets.

A lovely step back in time to when Alf Wight was a vet in Thirsk. Having watched both series of All Creatures Great and Small, and read a lot of the books, I felt very familiar with the museum, as if I had been there before. Lots to see and learn, especially as technology and knowledge has improved over the years. The interactive room is not just for kids, we had fun.

A truly wonderful stepping back into the original James Herriot world, with interesting information given within the wonderful reminiscences of the original TV series.

My wife and I are pensioners and are driving from Wales to Thirsk next August with our two small dogs for a weeks holiday as the wife has always loved the James Herriot stories since a child.. I have seen that dogs are not allowed in the museum,... is anyone who has been on holiday in Thirsk with dogs and visited the museum aware of anywhere that dogs are allowed to be safely cared for during a visit to the museum, I am sure other families have come across this issue?

We are staying in the Premier Inn in Thirsk. Given that some reviews for the James Herriot museum say it can take up to three hours to do the attraction and parking seems to be for two hours would it be best to go in a taxi?

If the premier inn is the one in the market place no it’s just off the market place you could walk it in 5 mins and isn’t there parking at the back of the pub that would be longer?

I would suggest train, then taxi from the station. The train is quick and economical. Taxi would be fairly inexpensive, but would also offer you the opportunity to get some great local knowledge from the driver.
