Great spot. Called in on our way through again and we were looked after by Kath who couldn't do enough for us. Beef burger was delicious and my blat was nice too. Chips are the best!

This is a very good place for breakfast - try their omelette of the day. The staff are friendly and the service is great. Well located on the main strip as well.

We dined here last night and can say that the range of options on the menu was excellent, the serving sizes generous and the quality of the food prepared excellent. This was our first time to this hotel and we thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere, the very friendly staff and the design of the hotel and restaurant area was very easy and accommodating

We decided to try this new pub (old one burnt down apparently) for some drinks and a pub feed. Drinks were well priced and wines seemed to be very large pours. We didn't mind as we were on holidays passing through. I had a chicken parma for dinner which was a good size. Chips were great and salad tasty. It was busy when we arrived and service from the staff was very efficient

The Royal Hotel has been rebuilt and is now open after a fire completely destroyed the previous version. The new one is called "Royal on 99".
I have been quite a few times to check it out now and what is consistent is that the Management and Staff have no idea what they are doing. I suspect that after some time they will get a handle on things and improvements will be made.
The building design although very impressive to look at, seems weird to me for a regional QLD town, it would be well suited to the Coast or in the big smoke.
When you walk in from the main street it is more Café than Hotel, the Sports Bar is located in the back, with the Pokies hidden behind it, there is than a tiny little smoking area out in the back driveway - it looks like it was forgotten and just chucked in as an after thought.
I don't know if its just me, but I believe the place has no atmosphere. Once it is full its okay, but that seems to only happen for short periods of time on Fri and Sat nights.
Food and Drink service wise, be prepared to wait a long time and don't expect to get exactly what you ordered.
Also, be prepared for the place to shut the doors pretty early and with little notice. When they do, cruise across the road to Irish Mcganns to finish your night.

The service in the bar was good and the girls were friendly. The Barramundi was excellent! There is access to TAB facilities if you want it or just sit and watch the big screen. Not bad at all!
