This attraction in the middle of the forest is a real surprise and well worth a visit. An example of how nature operates. Make the effort to visit if in the general area.

Astounding over 500 years old. Easy access. Short boardwalk from car park. Lots of photo opportunities. Well worth the short stop and it's free!

We had no idea what to expect, we were astonished. It is an amazingly large fig tree. It is an easy stroll on a board walk.

This quick stop is good, the board walk is easily accessible to both the elderly or people with mobility issues. It doesn’t take long to look around this enormous tree. Worth the bother

Amazingly large fig tree. I was on a business trip, passing through this location. Stopped for a while to enjoy the nature's beauty

This is a very under rated place to go in Queensland. Clean and well signed with plenty of boards telling you about the Curtain Fig tree which is enormous and mystical in appearance. You feel you are seeing something from Avatar, Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings. But better.
It would take a really good photographer to capture the overall atmosphere created by this tree. The photographs I've included I have tried not to repeat what others before me have produced.
It takes someone with really good writing skills to capture just how fantastic this place is. One of the very best places to see in Australia. I came here on a whim and so glad I decided to go with my instinct. Just a marvellous experience.
Not a difficult walk to the Curtain Fig Tree. You go along elevated well maintained walkways and average fitness is all that is required.

The Curtain Fig National Park must be the smallest national park in Queensland, a mini-reserve just outside Yungaburra. Centrepiece of course is the eponymous fig-tree, which is a very impressive piece of timber. Not that it is unique - we saw other curtain figs throughout the Atherton tablelands including at Lake Barrine. Anyway, this mighty tree is definitely worth a visit. There is a boardwalk that encircles it that only takes 5-10 minutes to walk. Allow time for gawking, though.

We visited early Sept and found it quite and pleasant. The parking is very close and it was pleasant to walk around and view.

Yep it's 2 trees strangled by a vine resulting in a beautiful site for a brief tourist stop.
Worth a visit if you're in the area.
6 minutes down the road is the Shaylees Strawberries with the tastiest soft serve ice-cream, milkshakes and sweets, so grab some and take a walk around the tree.
12 minute drive from Atherton. tree is accessible by a wheelchair friendly wooden boardwalk. I don't recall seeing public toilets there though. car park right next to boardwalk & walk is short.
Worth a visit if you're in the area.
