What a stunning place. Family run since the ~1830s apparently. Thiss location has a really good cafe with scones, jams and cream to savour. The scones came with five different jams which made guessing which was which (or what) entertaining. Everything was first class and the place sells an impossibly wide range of relishes, chutneys and jams. The coffe wasn't bad either. Thoroughly recommend a visit for anyone near the Adelaide Hills! Yes, we did come away with some jars!

Having consumed my share of Beerenberg jams at numerous hotels around Australia and Asia, I relished the opportunity to visit the farm from which they all originated from.
Located just outside of Hahndorf on the Mount Barker Road, it is more than just a jam factory, it is a quality cafe, shop and museum housed in one building. They have a large parking area out front - plenty of spaces available. When you enter you pass by a gallery explaining the history of the Paech family and how they start producing strawberry jam. There are also displays about the types of strawberries - did you know they came from the rose family of plants?
The large inside dining area has a coffee shop/cafe, and a dairy/ice creamery (open 9am - 4pm daily) which a selection of freshly-made sandwiches, salads, homemade pies, delectable cakes, waffles, pastries, ice cream, smoothies all served with their own jams, relishes and sauces. Perfect for breakfast, morning tea, lunch and/or afternoon tea. They don't take bookings but there are plenty of tables available.
Their shop has over 100 jams, chutneys, sauces, honey, dressings to choose from, as well as other Beerenberg products and souvenirs (open 9am - 5pm).
In addition they run cooking demonstrations/classes (need to pre-book) and the opportunity to pick your own strawberries (between November to April).

Needing to head to Tailem Bend for a my mustang self drive at the Bend, so we stopped off at Beerenberg as the usual parking problems in Hahndorf precluded us stopping there for a mid morning bite to eat. First time in years that I have been there and its been upgraded and done very well. Beerenberg was busy with plenty of tourists, but it handles the crowds well. No problems in getting a table and ordering coffees and scones. Yum. And then a stroll through to pick up a range of their jams. Great place for a quick feed or to while away time while people watching.

Once again. Well worth the visit. Had breakfast. Very good food. Stock up on our favourite sauces and Jams. Worth the one hour trip for us. Will be back again one day.

Stopped here on our way to Adelaide for morning tea. Great little shop and the cafe was a great experience. We were not disappointed. They use the cafe to showcase the products sold. Pricey but tasty. Shame there wasn’t a tour as it would have been good to see behind the scenes. I will be putting an order in for more tartare sauce soon.

Was on our way to Hahndorf Village when we spotted Beerenberg Farm. We decided to drive on and pop back to the farm and have lunch.
Hahndorf Village is not far from Mt Barker which is an easy drive.
After doing our shopping and walk around the Village we dropped into Beerenberg and had lunch and a spot of stocking up jam etc.

Coffee was nice, although I ordered and paid for a large, I actually got a small - please be careful as we didn't have time to change the order. Lots of yummy cakes and items to purchase as well as a few gift items. (as part of an organised tour)

We arrived at 10am ready to buy plenty of their products so we could reorder online or from our local supplier. I had a number of things in my basket and asked a supervisor if we could try a couple of mustards, she said we could try any of their products at the counter. Excited we waited patiently, we asked for 3 of their mustards which were on the shelves only to be told by the young woman that she didn’t have any of them. I said there was plenty on the shelves, to which she responded with, oh I can’t use them, someone might want to buy them. True right, I wanted to buy them. I was so dismayed, I stepped away from her counter but turned back and handed her my basket of jars. 10 hours to get there, what a disappointment. Never again and I’ll tell everyone that will listen not to bother with this place. Shame because until now I bought a couple of different jars of cooking sauces every week at my butcher. Left by 10:30 am, but we went on to spend a small fortune elsewhere in Hahndorf.

The jam's are nice especially lemon butter and the tomato chutney. They have increased the display area. The service is great.

Strawberry season is from October to April so patch is closed but the shop where they sell jams and other produce would be open..you can always call then before hand.

No Restaurant at the farm there is a shop were you can buy products from.
Yes you can take you time picking the strawberries and I'm sure you don't have to book for 10 people hope that helps.
Picking strawberries in morning would be cooler

Hi,
We are a team of dragon boaters, 10 of us from the Breast Cancer Foundation Singapore (BCF Paddlers in the Pink) coming to Adelaide's West Lakes Regatta Course for a dragon boat race, The Club Crew World Championship 2016 from 29 Mar to 3rd April. We are planning to tour Adelaide after the Race.
We will probably be driving over on the 5 April to your Strawberry Farm for a picking and tasting as it is highly recommended.
However there are a few questions I hope you could help.
1.How far is it from Barossa Valley ? We will be spending the night at Barossa on the 4 April.
2. Do we have to make a reservation ahead for 10 of us for picking?
3. Is morning picking better then afternoon?
4. Do you have a nice restaurant in your Farm where we can have a lovely lunch or afternoon tea?
5. How much time to we need in the Farm for our planning purposes as we would like to spend some time touring and shopping at Hahndorf Village and finally catching the ferry to Kangaroo Island at 6pm.
Appreciate your replies soonest possible.

I'm a local reviewer and don't represent Beerenberg. A morning pick is coolest and allow about 1.5 hours for the experience. My recommendation would be to have a meal in Harndorf (it is beautiful township). There are many German style pubs - our favourite is the German Arms (recommend booking!) and there is also a lovely bakery (Otto's) - leave time after lunch to explore the township . It would be over an hours drive from the Barossa Valley (possibly closer to 1.5 hours depending on how far north you are staying). It would be about 1.5-2 hours drive to the ferry terminal from Harndorf. Good luck with your regatta and welcome to Adelaide!
