it was a long dirt road that kept going and going and when we finally got to the magnet, we were dissapointed, the illusion is interesting but we dont think it was worth the drive down the dirt road

Did this as part of the 2 1/2 hour northern trip which was really interesting but could benefit from some signs as I got lost twice. Might have been easier with a copilot.
Loved this illusion as it really gets you in. Had to get out and look at it a multiple angles even though it is described on the board

Magnetic Hill. I wouldn't believe unless I tried it myself. Whatever people say. It's a hoax, or phenomenon, or simply a trick, we'll let you see for yourself. Are you really going up hill or down. Well. We did exactly as the sign says. And it happened almost immediately. Which I found really strange. And the pull is quite noticeable. On a public road so do beware of other cars. I enjoyed the drive out here. Even for a few short minutes here, this is worth it as in Australia it's the bragging rights that you were here and did it. And then trying to work out how it happens.

There's a sign telling you where to stop and what to do - follow the instructions then be amazed as your car rolls up the hill!

The science nerds in our car spent a while trying to figure out how our brains were being fooled here, to no avail. One of us wasn't fooled though - he was completely missing out on the illusion, and couldn't understand why the rest of us were so bemused.

Another car passing by stopped to give it a go - those guys described it as a "spin out" and had to go back and try it a second time!

Is it a trick of nature or a light of the light? Whatever it is, it's fun. Turn off at Black Rock on the Orroroo-Jamestown Road, and follow the Pekina Road west. You can't miss it, as there's a rather large magnet marking the spot. Turn off your motor, knock the car out of gear and watch the fun begin as you roll uphill. From there it's a short hop to Pekina,an Historic little town and once the Seat of the Bishop of Port Augusta. If exploring you can push on to the pretty little town of Tarcowie, or head to Orroroo and backtrack to Peterborough. Either way, whichever way you go, you'll be talking about Magnetic Hill :)

Took us a while to find our way there. Good to stop off in Peterborough at the old picture theatre for a snack and drink first. Final road is dirt. Don't stop at the big magnet, but continue down the road further and follow the instructions. It worked for us, as our car went backwards up a hill. In hindsight, it would have been better for us to re-trace our way there, rather than continuing on the road and getting hopelessly lost. GPS didn't seem to find the roads for us.

Was a bit of a drive on dirt road, the optical illusion worked on me, not on my friend.
This would probably make (some young) kids astounded, but I thought the overall scenery of the detour was better than the experience.

Heard a lot about this Magnetic Hill but was disappointed once I tried it out. The illusion seemed very obvious to me at least.

About eight kilometres of metal road if you approach in either direction. Whilst the car does move as stated I consider it an optical illusion in that whilst the car appears to be going up hill it is in fact going down a slight slop. Anything that magnetic to pull a car would damage car computer, watches etc.

Great little spot still not sure whether it’s an optical allusion or the area is highly magnetised but it does give the feel that the car is going up the hill under its own steam.
