This trail is one of my favorite trail rides. Can be as short as five to ten miles and as long as 25 if you are so inclined. Mostly flat and crossing several roads, the trail is an easy and pleasant ride. If you head north from Mountain Run Station you have to cross several busy roads. When you head south, you can go as far as Middlefield, seeing, perhaps Amish buggies on the trail. Recommend this trail to new and experienced riders alike.

A very nice paved rail, half sunnny, half shaded, with a few street crossing (two cross state roads, so if kids are riding, keep them close). The trailhead on Chardon Windsor Road is very nice - clean facilities, much parking, a large picnic gazebo. Note that if you travel south of Route 608 (into Middlefield) there a quite a few eateries accessible by bike. It is a busy village, so keep your eyes open. If you like covered bridges, there are three of them between Routes 44 and the village of Middlefield.

If you like biking, walking, or walking your dog for short jaunts or longer journeys, Maple Highlands Trail is for you. There is plenty of parking, a picnic area with a couple of grills, and restrooms at the trail head. From the trail head it is possible to hike or bike for 17 miles round trip on a beautiful, flat trail that has the perfect balance of sun and shade. It smells fresh and is so pretty and peaceful in al seasons. I like to pack snacks or a light lunch to carry on my bike and at the end of the 8.5 miles is a lake (and restrooms) with a picnic table to stop for a bit and enjoy the view before turning around and heading back down the trail.

We have biked and walked much of this trail. It is over 20 miles long and growing as they are developing more of the trail. Most of the trail is paved but parts near Middlefield are crushed stone. The Amish use that part as a buggy trail and I honestly felt like I had gone back in time as I traveled this beautiful stretch. There are parking spots along the way so you can park and do portions or tackle the whole thing.

This paved trail follows an old rail line and has been transformed nicely by the Geauga Park District. It's a beautiful walk, run or cycling area. I would recommend it to anyone wanting to get outdoors.

Imagine a park something like 23 miles long that is as little as about 20 feet wide in places and maybe 100 feet wide throughout much of its length. This park is mostly level and passes through many miles of beautiful woodland. Most of the trail is paved and is ideal for hiking or biking.

That's pretty much Maple Highlands Trail.

This beautiful park is along an old B&O railway line (think Monopoly) that was abandoned decades ago and has been converted over the course of years into a trail way through many of the most attractive parks of Geauga County. Most of it is paved (although much of the southern portion is not). The course is mostly wooded, with both newer and more historic covered bridges. You can basically decide how far you want to go and turn around wherever you want to.

Although this park snakes along many miles, there are a limited number of convenient places to park. As a result, while this is fun to walk, a bicycle might be more practical. Most recently, we go onto the trail just south of Chardon at the Mountain Run Station. Oddly enough, you pass through a sort of industrial park to get there, but once you are at the parking area it is a very pleasant paved walk in the wood to the trail. There are several other entrance points you can easily find on the Geauga Park District web site.

It's great that they've both preserved and converted this rail line so that we can all enjoy a trip of pretty much any length you would want. We also saw some older remnants from the rail line along the way.

Love this trail! Clean and safe! Lots of families use this trail also.
I used to run the Greenway corridor but not since the lady was shot a few years ago.
