Cleveland has some super beautiful hiking areas and parks. We walked 3 dogs around the lake and into the forest on some great footpaths.

The zoo was an awesome experience _ you see many different animals and their homes and the best part is feeding the giraffes. And the art work outside is great too

Great place to walk off brunch. Beautiful snowy landscape but the trails were still walkable. We saw a small hill the kid Dr were sledding down...lots of people walking their dogs, too. Quite lovely.

We walked for 2 some hours in the park enjoying the late summer plants and the lake. The trail was easy to follow.

Hinckley boathouse
Rented to stand up boards!
Internet was not working could not get our Waivers papers to go thought took 20 mins
Meantime nobody there offered to help ( Internet was not working something was wrong!
All joking around playing on their phones the boy was talking about snakes in the water my 13-year-old granddaughter was afraid to go on the board!
The lady joke back and said put her on the other boat there’s no snakes there and they all laugh!
My granddaughter has anxiety we only got 25 minutes in the water it took me that time to calm her down the meantime they told me that the time it took me to fill out the forms I lost my 25 minutes in the water in 10 minutes to wait for her to get off the phone to give us directions how to put a lifejajacket on and how to use the stand-up board!she had friends that came! Started talking to them totally ignored us and then told me to take a deep breath and relax I said you’re done talking to your friends now we don’t have a 20 minutes in the water she said next time be here I have to half hour earlier

The park system is amazing for a city environment. My son relocated to Cleveland and picked this area in particular because of the opportunities to hike, run and experience nature.

We visited Big Met Golf Course to play a round of golf. One of our group has a heart condition, He is also 86 Years old. The course rule for the day was cart path only. We talked to the Started a real nice guy explained what was going on and He gave up a Handicap Flag for our friend so He could cross at 90 degrees . We have played the Metro Parks for over 30 years. We were used to being treated in this way buy the employees. They have always been very accommodating .That’s why we go there. We teed off and got to the There hole and the course Ranger comes over and Says He’s taking our flag because the started had no business giving it to us in the first place. He was also very rude and argumentative. We tried to explain what was going on but He didn’t care!
Big Met and it’s employees seem to think it is okay to discriminate against handicap people. They don’t care about the players. Once more the course was not in the condition we had grown accustomed to. They spend all those advertising dollars publicizing the course trying to get people to play there. If they put that money into the course People would come. But who would want to if they are gonna be treated they way we were. This is a public course funded by tax dollars. We have never been treated like this before. Our golf league has played Sleepy Hollow Golf course for over 35 years and we play Big Met every Fall. I would not recommend this course at this time. Conditions are poor and the services are less then satisfactory

My hubby and I recently went to the Zoo. There were more animals out than in the previous year when we went so this was a good thing. The zoo has come quite a way since I can last remember as a child and this is very good. The bridge to walk up to the monkeys and primates was out so this was a great disappointment however, I am confident that it will be back in operation soon.

It's called the Emerald Necklace because the park reservations form a sort of chain around Cuyahoga County, if you use your imagination when looking at a map. There's also a park unit in Hinckley in adjacent Medina County, where the buzzards (turkey vultures) return every March from their winter homes. The Metroparks have fine golf courses, boating, fishing, nature centers for the family, beaches, toboggan run, and all kinds of all-season activities.

The Asian Lantern exhibit is at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo through the end of July. It's not a permanent exhibit, but it's looking like it may become an annual one during the summer. This is only its second year here.

The Asian lantern festival (pics dated Aug 2018 on TripAdvisor) in the metropark is that a annual or one time event or a display that is up year round? Traveling to Cleveland right after july 4th could anyone give me some info about this (where, when etc). It look really unique and beautiful. Thanks everyone in advance!

The Lantern Festival was originally done in 2018 as a one-time event, but brought back this year by popular demand. It is located in the Cleveland Zoo, which is part of our Metroparks system, a few miles outside of downtown. You should go to their website, clevelandmetroparks, for details, including ticket prices, conditions, etc.
The Zoo is located fairly near: Tremont, where there are numerous excellent restaurants, and the Christmas Story House; and Ohio City, where their are more great restaurants, brewery’s and The Westside Market, another Cleveland gem.

Temperatures very cold in December. Recommend walking the trails. Cross country skiing when there is snow on the ground. Contact the Metroparks for further info. Also, at Strongsville, OH there are toboggan shoots and a Chalet.

You can ride the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Train, which connects Cleveland, Akron, and Canton. Check out the CVSR website for the ticket information.
You can rent bikes via the Cleveland Metroparks. Check out Cleveland Metroparks website for information.

I do not know of anyplace nearby that rents motorcycles, or spider motorcycles. It would be fun though to travel throughout the Metroparks on one! Try a Google search for rentals in the area.

if you are specifically targeting metro-parks as a destination, the only and best location would be the inn at brandywine falls. it is a full service B&B in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. They have their own website From there, you can drive or bike to most of the metroparks sites. it sits right next to brandywine falls , one of the gems of the region
