Our seats were great, the cast was superb, the Flautist providing the 'Pre-Music' in the lobby was delightful! A wonderful evening!

If you are in Downtown Cleveland, you should stop by Playhouse Square, just to say you did. We got to see it on a tour, so we got the history on the area, which made it that much better. We ended up coming back later to watch a musical in the Palace Theatre. The ticket pricing was reasonable, the interior of the theatre was beautiful and clean, the seats were mostly comfortable, but the spacing for the seats was atrocious!! Highly recommend if you are a tall person, trying to book the box seats. My husband was 6'5", and thankfully no one sat to my left, so we were able to move over a seat, if we hadn't been able to do that he would have been miserably uncomfortable.

Lucky us; we were visiting Cleveland and were able to order tickets to opening night of Ain't Too Proud: The Life and Times of The Temptations. It ranks as one of the best shows I've seen in 50+ years of live theater including Broadway and London stages. The book is tight, the staging is glorious, the band and music are superb. And then there are the performers--athletes really--who sing and dance their way through 2 1/2 hours of action. I don't think a better cast could be found. Besides the group's personal and professional highs and lows is the sobering backdrop of prejudice, segregation, and the death of Martin Luther King, Jr. I left with music in my heart and the question of the cost of success in my mind.
A word about the theater: It's beautifully restored and all of the staff welcomed us and gracefully moved the crowd along. We sat in seats 512-513 (door 8 aisle J, a short row of three seats upstairs). Our sight line was excellent and we easily heard every line. The seats were comfortable too. I must say a word about the ladies bathroom--best ever! There are lots of stalls and sinks, an entrance and exit door on each side of the bathroom, a hall to stand in, and two of the fabulous red-coat ushers stood inside the room and directed us to enter a stall as soon as someone emerged. It may not sound like much, but it was the icing on the cake!

The town of Cleveland is really low key now. When the play season begins there may be more people. We went to a restaurant and were the only people for dinner. It was a Wednesday. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Christmas Story house were great but that may not be enough to sing the praises of the town.

Saw Wicked here on Saturday evening. It was our first experience at this theater. Needing to show a vaccination card was an overreach. Come on folks!! While I personally could care less about the need to wear a mask, The judgmental "mask police" (patrons) were out in full force.
That said, combining the mask mandate with a theater that had to be 80 degrees (I'm not kidding) made what should have been a GREAT experience seeing a fantastic performance in a beautiful theater feel like a trip to the BMV. I couldn't wait for it to end so I could get outside and breath. If you must make your theater feel like a trip to a tropical forest, at least find a way to make the drink lines shorter so I can purchase a $5 bottle water to pour over my head!!!

We have season tickets and live an hour away. These are wonderful venues and are second to none. The theaters are so historic and beautiful. Full COVID protocols are in place - mask, proof of vaccine, ID!

Don't purchase a gift card without looking at the small print (expiration date). I was given (as a gift) a $300 gift card to Playhouse Square. The purchaser was not told there was an expiration date, and when it was emailed to him and then me I didn't notice it either (irresponsible on my part, I know). My experience with gift cards is that they didn't expire. Family death and moving kept me from using it at the time. I tried calling twice to maybe get them to at least honor half of it, but they would not. I then spoke to a manager on a third occasion to no avail. Given the coronavirus pandemic, I figured they would be a little lenient (and present their business with goodwill measures) . . . but they did not. Lesson learned for me, so wanted everyone else to be aware of this. Also, for the fields below ("when did you go" and "who was with you"), answer is required so I am just putting any date in there as I can't submit without it.

Playhouse Square Theaters are a special treat. These restored theaters offers Broadway Shows, Cleveland Playhouse productions, concerts, ballet and opera.

Great venue for Broadway shows and theatrical productions. We love going here for shows when in Cleveland. Obviously way bigger theatres than in NYC, but Cleveland has a large theatre following and gets shows soon after they begin touring from Broadway.

Yes there are places, within various price range, to eat that are within walking distance. My suggestions are Yours Truly and Hofbrau House. You can consult the Playhouse Square website for other suggestions.

Why do great seat choices appear online days before show opens and were not available during pre-sale? I have no idea why I am a Friend donor if I don't have access to the good seats. If I become a season ticket holder, are dedicated good seats available for purchase?

I would not become a season ticket holder no more unless I know I can go to most everything you will find yourself trying to sale the times you can’t go next sometime seats brought out by big ticket companies they don’t sale them all early that’s how good seating go on pre sale

I have been a Friend (Over $100) for several years and it entitles me to receive presale offers for better seats. However, I worked at a Co. that sponsored $5000 per year and their seats were left open until I used their sponsor # and was allowed to sit there as they had waived their seats. Sometimes, it is not seats together ?? I did not get an opportunity for Hamilton tickets and not happy right now.
