Sorry to say but this exhibit was moved to make way for improvements along the Scioto Mile. It still is not known if it will come back to downtown or not.

I've visited the Santa Maria Columbus two times. I visited the first year it was open to the public in the late 1980's. The Santa Maria Columbus is a replica of the original Santa Maria in the explorations of Christopher Columbus. The vessel is small inside with a few artifacts. I think children of all ages might enjoy this.

The ship has been removed to enable the city to put in the Scioto mile walking park which is a very nice addition to the downtown attractions. They may bring it back or put it in another location. You may want to check before driving down to the park if that is all you wanted to see.

Just a fun thing to walk through if you have a few minutes and are interested in seeing it. Nice reproduction gives a perspective on what the Pilgrims risked crossing the ocean.

having just spent an afternoon up close and personal with these two ships [boats?] at the marina in steubenville...where they pulled in to refuel...I was disheartened to hear from the captain that the santa maria in Columbus was being dismantled...and its return was questionable...sad..

We visited the replica of Columbus' ship several times in the past but it's been removed. We checked it out again & it's gone! Columbus Dispatch suggests that it might never be repaired. Might never be back because repairs will have to be paid privately. For now, nothing to see.

Fun for inspiring awe into young children. The area around the Santa Maria have progressively changed into decent walking space to explore the waterfront in Columbus. Teenagers might get bored, especially if they were brought several times as kids.

It has been removed and is in dry dock somewhere. The latest news is $1 million is needed to repair it and get it put back into the rive. Things are not looking good for the replica.

Wish there was something noting that it had been romoved and much building work is taking place in the area, so after searching for it came to the conclusion it had been removed whilst all the work on the river bank was being completed. Hope to visit again when it returns based on previous reviews.

My Camp Fire club members and my own children have really enjoyed the Santa Maria. They have taken advantage of the overnight programs where they get to eat the food, try the jobs, and sleep like the sailors. For a quick visit, it gives a great example of the small size of the ships that Columbus used. For the next year it will be missing, so it can return to the company that made it originally to get refurbished, while the city works on improving the park where it was parked.
