Came 5/7/24, 6 of us to the Famous Endings Museum. One man’s hobby turned into a museum of famous funerals and trivia. At first we were skeptical, but ended up enjoying it. Ask for John. Free admission, but there is a donation box, they don’t keep track. Give 2 hours.

I had been to Famous Endings Museum about five years ago on a travel conference trip. I always knew when I brought a group to Amish country in Ohio this would be one of our stops.
It was a "surprise venue" for the group. They were all pleasantly surprised to see this museum in a working funeral home. The museum was very interesting.

I brought my mom here because she was interested, but I wasn't expecting much. I was happily proven wrong, because I thought it was quite interesting. It's mostly all one room, but there's plenty to look at and read. I especially enjoyed the small artifacts from the different funerals. Definitely worth a stop!

If you come to this fun, unique museum be sure to call first to see if John, the retired owner, can give you a personal tour. His passion, knowledge and positivity helped make this a great experience for me, my teens and my mother-in-law. Such fascinating artifacts and the displays are extremely well done. My only issue is that this should be a stand alone museum! Definitely worth a visit!!

most unusual display.. A fun find. Mr Herzog(?)really gathered some wonderful things. Fun to read about so many wonderful people from the past. Clever and well done presentation in a unique setting (Funeral Home)

Wasn't sure what this was going to be, but it was a great find. Enjoyed reading and taking pics of all the memorabilia inside. Highly recommend.

This is a collection of memorabilia from famous peoples' funerals, and it's located in the Toland-Herzig funeral home. It is interesting because there is such a wide range of history on display. Almost everything is wall-mounted, so the place is probably kid-proof.

I found out about this from a brochure; it's not listed in the AAA book (unfortunately I'm discovering this fact more and more about other attractions too). Nobody bothers you; spend as much time as you'd like. There were no viewings going on, but where the attraction is located inside the funeral home I'd imagine it wouldn't be too awkward to still go in if there were; go up the handicapped ramp and the exhibit is close to the door, on the right. We did, however, notify the front desk that we were there. The walls, the arrangement of the items, the descriptions, etc. are very artfully done. The displays continue outside the main room; don't miss them; they are some of the most recent famous passings. Near the end of our stay the owner stopped in; very friendly and eager to share. I also appreciated the binders on the many tables, explaining in more depth the various people honored. Definitely a one-of-a-kind gem. If you have some younger people with you, this is also a wonderful way to educate them about past icons in many areas of life. When pulling into the parking lot, take it slow; the side road is bumpy near the edge--don't have any speed.

Many visitors come to our Beautiful Tuscarawas valley, for the great Amish food and many quaint shops and stores. One of the many interesting stops on your way to Amish country should be this museum. It is located 3 blocks East of the IS77 ramp in Dover, Ohio.

I wish I had a picture of the look on my wife's face when I pulled in to the parking lot of this place! My youngest son wanted to know why we were at a pet crematory. He thought it was because I don't like the neighbors' dog pooping inmhy yard and was planning to do it in. Anyway, i convinced the whole family to get out of the car, and then once we walked through the doors I could hardly get them to leave. All the Ohio presidents are represented here with Garfield funeral vests and a large star from McKinley, whose museum and tomb are just up the road in Canton. There are tables to sit at and read through the notebooks of biographical information about all the famous people or you can carry them with you (the notebooks, not the people) to flip through as you tour. Entertainers like Bob Hope, Lucy, and Phyllis DIller (from Lima, attended Bluffton College) were all here, as well as sports, miltary and space personnel. I didn't realize some of them had died. Others like Michael Jackson and Prince dominated the news cycle for months. People visit celebrity graves ias a tribute but it is much easier to come to the museum and find your favorite famous people. As long as there is not a memorial service going on, in which case I wouldn't intrude, there is plenty of parking and a ramp to the door. The building is air conditioned and there are public restrooms.
