What a delightful discovery! This camp is really well run, super clean and well maintained. The staff were all really friendly and helpful. Paved throughout, grassy site under the trees, with a fire ring and picnic table, and easy access to restrooms, bathhouse and laundry. Budget pricing for the nicest camp we’ve been at on our trip!! This is a great place to camp!

In the past year, we've stayed here four times while driving to and from the East Coast. We were camping in our pickup: just two mattresses in the bed, with a very simple cap. We didn't need hookups or electricity. Reservation process was easy. We never discovered any check-in procedure (we just occupied our reserved site; once the camp host stopped by and noted that we were in the right site). We reserved site 216 in the south campground. Right on the lake. Not a huge site. And fairly close to other sites. But only once did we have anyone else in the sites next to us. There were lots of RVs across the road from us. The place was clean, and there was a very friendly, family vibe. No problems with noise or rowdy behavior. Not far away is a simply pit toilet, which was clean enough. And a little farther away were restrooms with showers (clean as well). There's a nice walking trail from the south campground to other parts of the park. This place is not spectacular, but it provided (for us) a simple, easy and pleasant overnight stop. It's about 8 miles from the Ohio Tollroad, so fairly easily accessed by long-distance travelers like us. The first time we stopped this year was in April: hardly anyone there, and the main restroom was not yet open for the season. Our last stop was on Labor Day weekend: all sites were taken, but the place wasn't crazy-crowded.

One of our closest to home state parks for us. We stay at least once every year. It's usually very clean and well maintained. There is a dog beach and a people only beach. Fishing and non-motorized boat rentals. The camp is divided into North and South camp that aren't directly connected except by foot/bike path. So far we've always stayed at the South camp. There isn't a lot of through traffic in the South camp, there are sites close to the water for fishing, and there are sites close to the road that are quite large, though there can be traffic noise. The camp store and more amenities are in the North camp. Always had decent neighbors. I wouldn't drive a long way JUST for this campground or park but it's worth the stop of you're passing through or within a couple hours drive. We've tent camped and stayed in a camper several times each.

Agree this is a very well-run park. I just spent 30 Days on the road and this is the first place with the gravel around the fire pit was RAKED between campers! Busy with kids/families on Fri/Sat..quiet by noon on Sunday. Will go back, for sure.

Enjoyed our first visit to peaceful Harrison Lake State Park this weekend. Super clean park throughout. Beach, separate dog beach, picnic tables near lake, kayak rentals, basketball and volleyball, playgrounds. Met many friendly people. Liked it so much we decided to move to a new site and stay an extra night. Will definitely be back.
Note: Would suggest the North campground as sites are more spacious. South campground was very cramped.

Great camp sites. Wonderful fishing. Lots of activities. Quite clean showers and bathrooms. Restrooms located close toevery campgrounds

Who'd expect to find such a great camping and activity oasis in the middle of farm country Ohio? Very nice campsites well placed within the campground. Fire pits are clean and raked with no trash. Many trees provide good shade although not for all sites.
Playgrounds are clean and safe to access without navigating too much Park traffic.
Clean bathrooms and showers all operational. Plenty of hot water and god water pressure.
Lake is smaller but nice. Few power boats (pontoons) other than kayaks or canoes, which can be launched from the beach, camp watercraft rental site, or boat ramp. Many fisherman and places for easy shore fishing.
Beach is small but clean and safe. Swim area is roped off to ward off boat traffic.
Good weekend getaway just beyond the cities.

This park turned out to be a pleasant surprise! Located in a pretty out of the way spot in Ohio, the sites are spacious and very well-maintained. However, it is only 30 minutes from Adrian and an hour from Toledo. The shower house in the north campground is among the best we’ve run into as we travel USA. The lake is good for fishing, I saw people swimming but there are signs about green algae warnings.
The registration was efficient and friendly. Excellent book exchange. Nice hike around the lake. Friendly campers, many regulars from the area. Great food opportunities at Das Essen Haus in Wauseon and Sauder Village’s The Barn in Archbold. Great stay on our way back to MI.

Went to OH to visit my son who moved in July - we are always looking into State or National Parks close by & my husband took us there. It was a sunny, but cold day, but definitely would LOVE to go back in the Spring/Summer or Fall. Beautiful park with Great Walking Trails, Camping, lot's of Water Activities when it's warm, and very Clean. LOVED it...

What are the features of the camper cabin offered at the park? The only details you are given are when you go to reserve the cabin through the online system. Is it heated/air conditioned? Any kitchen amenities (i.e., sink, etc)? How many does it sleep? Can other tents also be put on the same site?

Well it's kinda weird, we made reservations and when we got there it's all done on honor code. You don't have to actually check in unless you want to go to the north campus, use the showers, etc. then you would need a tag for your car. I do believe the normal times are check in 3 and check out 11am. We got there in the evening on Friday but we left around 10am on Sunday and there was still plenty of people on the grounds.

You can go to the Ohio State Parks website and do reservations at any time. It depends on the weekend your going, we went over Father's Day and we made the reservations that week. If you want a good spot close to the lake or beach north side or the south side just depends. It depends if your primitive or hookup. The south side has the the primitive and electric; however, we didn't like the south side electric because they had them packed in like sardines. The north side or the main campus was nice because you had access to all the activities. We stayed in the south primitive and it was quite and relaxing, plus we had plenty of room.
