Battelle Darby Creek Metro Park is a huge park that covers over 7,000 acres of prairies, forests, and wetlands. Stretching along both Big and Little Darby Creeks, there are many activities available at Battelle Darby Creek Metro Park. We have been here many times and we keep coming back! We love that visitors center, its a great place to cool off during the summer months and learn and interact with the rangers. We also love to see the animals. My favorite activity is creeking! So much fun!

The spring hike today was a quick dance between the raindrops before the sunshine, so worth it. Battelle Darby Creek features more than 7,000 acres of forest, prairies and wetlands. It stretches along 13 miles of the Big and Little Darby creeks, both State and National Scenic Rivers. Wonderful picnic areas and clean restrooms, plenty of parking. The bison were hanging out in their summer pasture. The American Bison is North America’s largest land animal and the national mammal of the U.S. - Yellowstone National Park is the only location in the entire continent where bison have lived continuously since prehistoric times. Great picnic areas, clean restrooms, and plenty of parking. TY OH

I rode my bike on the trail in Battelle Darby Creek Metro Park near Galloway on a nice summer day, and thoroughly enjoyed the outing. In addition to the beautiful trail, the park has a variety of other very attractive features. The Nature Center is located in a lovely environmentally-friendly building and has informative exhibits on the outside. The building was closed when I visited, but I am sure they have interesting exhibits inside too. Another interesting feature is the bison herd near the Visitor Center; the herd may be about a dozen bison. A small hill at the look out point provides great views of the herd. The limestone packed trail is very well maintained and well signed. It is about 7 miles long. The north end of the trail ends at a now-not-active horse race track, and there are informative historical placards about the track. In addition, the park has other trails suitable for hiking. Ample parking is available at various park entrances.
Battelle Darby Creek Metro Park is a very enjoyable park. The several features make it an excellent place to appreciate nature.

Nice park. We came to see the small herd of bison. We didn't think we were going to see them, but did as we were driving away from the park so I didn't get a pic of them. My husband stopped at the restroom, which was very nice for a park. The park ranger/worker even said they sanitize them 4 times a day. He was also very helpful in directing us to the nature center. They were having an Easter egg hunt for kids when we were there in late March. There were lots of walkers and joggers. It seems very family friendly. There was a sign warning people not to leave their valuables unattended, but it didn't have an unsafe feel. The nature center was closed, but you could still walk outside and get some information. There was a metal bison that was pretty artistic. Lots of prairie grass and tress. Ample parking. A pretty area.

Spring is here at Battelle Darby Creek Metro Park near Columbus Ohio. We visited the park early spring and discovered the tree leaves, grass and flowers were blooming. People were out enjoying the brisk air as they walked the trail next to the fast-moving water in the creek. Although the temperature was in the 40’s people were out grilling on a Sunday afternoon. Battelle Darby Creek Metro Park is one of a few places in the country to witness bison in their natural habitat. The bison roam freely in multiple fenced pastures.

Great place to enjoy nature with no crowds, fees, or lines. Buffalos are beautiful! Great for couples and family. Not to far to walk. Depending on the time of year you may want to bring a parasol to block the direct sun. Any day of the week is great!

Been there 4 times, never saw one Bison (Buffalo). I know they move around but in 4 times nothing. If you go just to see the Bison, be prepared to not see any or not many.
However the inside place is nice, hands on and fun for kids. Lots of free parking, free entrance, lots of trails to walk.

I went with some friends and we had a great 5 mile hike through the park. The trails/roads were well maintained and there was plenty of flora and fauna to enjoy as well. As we were returning to the parking lot, we noticed that there were several Bison in a field nearby. It was very cool to see these magnificent animals in person but he behind a fence and at a safe distance. :)

Well cared for, lots of places to grill out with tables nearby, lawns and trails are in pristine shape, the caretakers obviously are proud of this place. It's a great place for groups of any kind to relax in the woods outside and enjoy nature together. It's just a 15 minute drive away from Columbus, too. Wonderful.

The park area is fantastic. The trails are good and well maintained. I think the bison as an attraction are overrated. It's just bison in a field about 100 yards or further away from the trail.
