We stayed in Jungle Retreat Wayanad and the starting point of the trek was just 5 minutes drive. This is an excellent trek for anyone looking to know more about nature and wildlife. Path less explored, so not crowded.

@ Thirunelli, there is no holidays. Friday and monday is allowed. Leeches are everywhere. Be careful

Brahmagiri is a hillock adjoining the Talacauvery temple. Steps are a bit steep and can be a bit tiring for people who are not used to strenuous physical activity. Gates to the hillock open at 10 am and close at 4pm. Takes about 45 min up & down. View from the top is definitely good but the top is rocky and no place for sitting comfortably. Steps have intermediate plane surfaces which you can use for taking rest. Place is covered by CCTV so security issues are hopefully taken care of. Did not encounter any threat from any wildlife.

We are 5 people, had been there from 15/07/2018 to 17/07/2018. It was totally unforgottable memories. Quite place awesome location chilled weather. Lot of dangerous insects and snacks we found.

Climbing up the Brahmagiri Hill from Talacauvery was the high point of our recent trip to Coorg. It's an must-do activity, with the best time being the morning or evening.
One can get an amazing view from here, whichever way one looks. One can see the lovely Western Ghats in both states of Karnataka and Kerala, whose border is next to the hill as well as the Talacauvery temple, which is the source of the Cauvery River. For photography enthusiasts or selfie seekers, this place is amazing.
For safety purposes, safety meshes have been installed along the top of the hill. Also, the climb is a bit tiring for those lacking fitness but can be done in 15 minutes if one is willing to rough it out. Once one reaches the top, one can see that the effort was well worth it.

Hi,
We, group of 6 members went to Brahmagiri peak on Oct 20-2017 and booked room at KTDC hotel thirunelli for the trek. Absolutely superb hotel to stay. But food were very costly to the quantity they gave and food was ok not superb as somebody mentioned in the review. So please take food near the tirunelli temple 1 km walk from the hotel. Availablity of Non-veg hotel is minimum or we can say only one hotel near the checkpost. The next day, we started our trek by 8.30 AM. we were the only group trekking at that time. The person who is incharge in the reservation counter has collected Rs. 1900 (for 5 members) and 350 for the extra person. He also collected GST for our trekking (I do no why he had collected GST for trekking) and just gave only four tickets, totally we gave 2700. After collecting the tickets we started our trek to brahmagiri peak with the local tribe called guide. we were welcomed by leeches and first 3 kms there were nothing to see, we didn't see even a deer or any photographic points. After reaching the rooms in the midway only we can able to best sight seeing and able to feel the climate, after that the scenery is very picturesque and our group started to enjoy and after reaching the highest point we were totally enjoying our but to our disappointment he said that the trek route has been shortened to 8kms up and down due to some issues between kerala and karnataka, we were shocked that our we could reach near pakshipatalam cave (we were totally disappointed). After returning by 2.00 PM we questioned the Forest officer why he was collecting us the full amount after shortening the tour asusual there is no answer from him. So we returned disappointingly. one more thing never take the brahamagiri government provided dormitory or room as it is so ugly and the beds were totally damaged. Overall it is a pleasant trek to beginners and we have enjoyed the nature's beauty at the fullest with major disappointment.
Note:
Please take food and water as needed. Take salt to take care with leeches.
Never books rooms there, books hotels from nearby.

We infect like the route to it. There plenty of shops for shopping coffee and honey. Then Noodle shops to satisfy your quick hunger. Be careful to drink milk beverages as road side counters heat the milk when it is inside the pouch itself using boiling water. Govt must take an action

Brahmagiri is an amazing place especially for first time trekkers. Had an amazing time - great place, lovely landscape especially if you are interested in photography. Loved the entire experience.

It is a beautiful trek which can be completed in one day (around 13km trek). We started from Thirunelli at around 8:30 AM and were back by 4 in the evening. The hills were covered with lush green grass since we visited during monsoon. There are fresh water streams on the way. The view from the hill top is breathtaking. And yeah, beware of leeches.

This is famous for trekking enthusiasts.Beautiful scenery of Coorg can be enjoyed during the trek.There is a famous Shiva temple at the base.

Yes. There is an entry fee, guide fee and trekking fee.
I am not sure how much because when I visited today(8th June, 2019), it was closed.
As per the research on Internet, for a group of 5, it was coming about 1800 bucks, plus 350 for extra person.
Should we pay for trekking in brahmagiri?is it safe place?is it safe to trek in July?how long is the trek ?

Trek Fees: Rs. 1900 (for 5 members) and 350 for the extra person, Trek routes are safe and guide (local tribe) will accompany you. Trek will be 10kms up and down, but ask for Pakshipatalam cave trek while collecting ticket for trek, its a slight deviation from brahmagiri and it will be wonderful. Also one more thing dont book forest department rooms there, it will not be looking nice, Instead for book for KTDC Tamarind Tirunelli there. July is the monsoon season. Kindly check the whether issues with the local before starting trek.
