from kamakshi amma by auto 5o/- rs 5minut only .long queue even at 6am.
morning 530 to 1230 evening 330 to 830 aprox. lord shiva sand made shivlinga so no holy water allowed .darsahan from far only .if anyone visit rameswar kashi kamakshi and come here pandit will charge 501 and special sitting darsan allowed .(ask pandit details). mango tree 3500 years old is here can be seen while in queue . chapallstand is here and bag alowed mobile allowed in pocket .

Ekambareswarar Temple Kanchipuram located in Tamil Nadu India is considered to be one of the largest temples (in area size) in the world. This temple occupies an area of 40 acres of land, and the tallest temple building here is 11 stories high, which is believed to be the highest temple in southern India. The architectectural design is traditional ancient India style - beautifully ornate.

As one of the biggest temples of India it covers over 25 acres. It has multiple gopuras and houses numerous shrines. The tallest gopura is almost 60 meters high. The layout can be a bit confusing. The temple is very crowded and at times may look chaotic due to the number of both visitors and pilgrims. Some of the most beautiful examples of architecture here are from Chola dynasty in 9th century. The most famous structure here is arguably the thousand-pillared hall.
The entire temple area features countless sculptures, figures, little shrines, and houses beautiful art. In many areas you can observe colorful rituals in progress. There are many legends surrounding this amazing temple.

It is a huge temple. Probably among the biggest and beautiful temple in South India. Due to lack of maintenance and cleanliness, it disappoints me. Tamil Nādu Govt. should take initiative and care of it. Jai Bhole Nath !!!

Big temple, with Parking. Mango tree where Lord Shiva and Parvati Amman got married. Divyadesam perumal sannidhi (Nilathingal Thundam Perumal). Cleanliness of the kovil is required.

i was stunned at the megnamity of the complex
very large temle with big Nandi at the front and 100s of lingas installed by various sages who live there centuries back
you can witness > 3500 years mango tree wher Godess Parvathy did penance to please Lord Shiva

The place is dedicate to Lord Shiva and parvati and supposed to be worshipped together. Here abhishekam through holy water is not allowed to general public as lingam is of sand like Shri Rameshwaram. One should see old tree on back side of temple as well. Enjoy..

It was the second most visit point in Kanchipuram after kamakshi Amman,the gopuram is so much tall and interior architecture has no words, the entrance,darshan are superb

it is the biggest temple in Kanchipuram. the temple authorities are proud of its 59m tall gopuram, making it the tallest gopuram in India.
Another interesting fact about the Ekambareswarar Temple is that, it is one of the Pacha Bhootha Sthalams or representations of natures five elements. Among the five elements, the Ekambareswarar Temple represents - Earth while Thiruvanaikaval Jambukeswara temple represents - water, Chidambaram Natarajar temple represents - Sky, Thiruvannamalai Arunachaleswara temple represents - fire and Kalahasti Nathar temple represents - wind.

He visitado este templo en febrero del 2017.
El templo es muy grande, tiene unos grandes pasillos, muy bueno para visitar y explorar.
El árbol de mango, está en el medio del templo, es de 3500 años de antigüedad.
Frente al templo, hay un buen aparcamiento.

Is there a tower or a rooftop that I can climb , to get an aeriel view of the Ekambareshwar Temple complex ?? Please also let me know if something similar is available for the other temples in Kanchipuram like the Kamakshi Amman Temple. Thanks

You are not permitted to go the tower in any temple in Tamilnadu. Only maintenance staff and temple officials are authorised to visit the tower top.
