Lovingly designed open-air museum built by the owner family itself. Admission 8 Euro, plus a useful audio guide for 2 Euro. You can learn about the former Cretan life of the inhabitants.
Unfortunately, some things seem very dusty and self-made. You can already tell that there is no public funding behind it. Nevertheless, or just for that reason, you should stop by if you are on holiday nearby.

Very warm welcome by the host with explanations in French. Very easy to access. The visit is worth it and the change of scenery is guaranteed. The place is just beautiful. A small local drink offered at the end of the tour. On top. Thanks to you.

The people who run this museum are exceptionally friendly and welcoming. It's lovely to sit on the beach front and enjoy their hospitality with a fine Cretan draught beer and watch the sea for hours afterwards. Really relaxing and superb company!

what a lovely open air museum , from early Cretan life, super couple of hours walking round seeing how life has changed, slowly I may say.

A quirky little museum right next to the sea. There is limited parking near the museum entrance so we parked in a nearby restaurant car park and had coffee before walking to the museum, then returning to the restaurant for lunch.
The very friendly owner of the museum (who built it with friends and family) takes the entrance fee and sits you in a waiting area until there is a small group of english speaking people to start a guided tour. We waited for quite a while before going off on a tour of the museum by ourselves armed with a map. There is a small cafe for refreshments during the tour.
The museum exhibits are reproductions of old building furnished with items the family has picked up over the years. An interesting insight into the recent history of life on Crete.

An interesting insight into how the people of Crete lived in the past.
It was an easy walk from our hotel in Stalis ( Dias apartments- highly recommended) and we made the choice to come on a Wednesday when the Greek activities are on. The admission charge is slightly more on these days (€15 as opposed to €8)
Some interesting demonstrations and Greek dancing, free snacks and drinks.
Possibly not very interesting for young children but we had a pleasant couple of hours.

Absolutely stunning place to visit. So cheaply priced. I would recommend watching the video when you arrive.
Cannot believe how much time, effort and dedication went into building this. A complete labour of love that they should be very proud of.

It’s a nice place, nice to walk around and take a few photos. The staff were nice on reception. Honestly I didn’t find it to be much more than that with some nice pieces from the past.

Went for wine festival. Great interactive presentations. Got to taste lots of local foods. Guided tour afterwards would of been better if they had split the group. Was too large.

Thank you for your interest in our museum! Our museum is definitely a kids friendly museum, both educational & entertaining!
Your kids can enjoy walking through the paths in the fruit-tree garden, touching & smelling the aromatic herbs of Crete. They will discover the "music of the mountains" and the “Cretan chocolate” by interacting with the old carob-mill. Our honey bees in the glass beehive will capture your kids’ interest. In addition, the old school is just fascinating for everybody. The kids' corner gives young visitors the opportunity to play with traditional and ecological toys related to the museum’s collections. After all the museum located next to a nice beach, where you can enjoy a snack, an ice-cream, the museum-made lemonade & herb-tea, a local beverage or even a pleasant swim!
To conclude, we believe our museum is an ideal place for children and would meet their expectations.

There are many ways ;
1. 25 minutes walk west (direction to Heraklion) on the beach road.
2. By bus (8 min. drive, get down to stop MUSEUM / MEDITERANNEO).
3 By taxi (costs approx. 10 euros).

La strada per arrivare è buona e senza curve. La strada in cui si trova il nostro museo è parallela all'autostrada. Per arrivarci, seguire l'autostrada (nuova o vecchia a seconda di dove vieni). Solo gli ultimi 500 metri si lascia l'autostrada in direzione del mare per raggiungere il nostro museo.

Wednesday, just be there 10 minute earlier. Our museum is situated between Stalis and Hersonisos. Actually, it's very close to your apartment, 10 - 15 minutes walk.
