Skipped the dinner. So huge and noisy when we walked in . Menu was minimal basically roast chicken pork or beef. No alternative. Drinks like Fanta or sprite in a can. It was cold and no atmosphere whatsoever. We left within 5 mins. We walked around the gardens which were lovely and aromatic. Did the mill tour which was interesting 5.50 pp . Bought some big oats. Mill and Gardens worth a visit but restaurant

Afternoon tea, food good. Service not so good. Website said served till 4pm, kitchen closes 3pm! Cafe closes 4pm so very rushed. Had to collect food and no table service

Visited with my husband and son today. went in to the café sat down and chose our meals . I had burger and chips which was ok , overpriced , at £13.95 . my son had eggs royale which was ok . but hubby was very annoyed with the onion and brie quiche ,new pots and salad at £10.95, very overpriced for a small portion of quiche a few pots and salad. At no point did any member of staff say hello or acknowledge we were there , we had to guess where things were . sorry wont be hurrying back.

Lovely day,lovely views.
That’s where the lovely stops.
Food very overpriced,a hot baguette £10,95,crisps,dry,tasteless,small salad..
But we ordered at the counter,order written on bit of paper,then taken over to the chefs,surely in this day and age,an iPad could be used ,and sent to the pass electronically.
Baguette,jacket potato,small prosecco and cappuccino,£30 ,the jacket potato wasn’t even Luke warm! We will not return!

Met a friend for lunch and had a very good quiche with salad and crisps plus coffee. Sat on the terrace under an umbrella, with a good view of the river and the gardens beyond. After lunch we strolled through the pretty gardens and visited the shop. We didn’t tour the mill as we hadn’t booked, but my do so mother time.

How can it take that long to get a tea/coffee. Well, visit here and you'll soon find out. THE most disorganised cafe/restaurant we've been too.
It is frankly embarrassing watching the staff here and the fall out to the customers waiting for their food/drinks.
When it does arrive, it's nothing special either.
The only redeeming feature is the view

Visited for lunch. We all had jacket potatoes, which were excellent value and came with salad and coleslaw. You go up and order food and they give you a buzzer to take back to your table, once the buzzer goes off you go and collect your food from the kitchen area.
Nice indoor or outdoor seating and some lovely, small gardens to wander around.

Popped in for a coffee on Saturday and it was really lovely sitting out on the deck overlooking the river. We just had coffee and toast. The staff were really very friendly and polite and the service was very quick. Afterwards we had a walk through the woods, visited the garden and also the shop. It is all definitely most improved and we will be back.

The dynamic in which this places runs lets it down massively. We went for Father’s Day and fully aware of the way they work - you go up to order your food and collect it yourself and with it being Father’s Day we knew it was going to be busy but it was next level. We arrived for breakfast at 9:30, both queued separately, one for drinks , the other for food, both took about half an hour to make our order. Then sat another half an hour waiting for our food so it took at least an hour to finally get our food! By this point we had cold tea and coffee to ‘enjoy’ with our food. Massively disappointing, it’s not cheap either, over £30 in total for two breakfasts, 1 tea and 1 cappuccino. I’m happy to pay good money but this was massively disappointing. Why not have staff wait on tables in busy periods like this? So instead of a nice Father’s Day quality time breakfast, we spent half of it in a queue, won’t be returning unfortunately

A excellent place to take the whole family for the day. The cafe was great with good food and pleasant and helpful staff There is plenty of exciting and well situated signs explaining how nature works and lots to discover.

Can you look round the mill in the week when tours aren't running?

is there disabled parking and wheel chair frendly
Hello, yes we have disabled parking with a number of car park spaces adjacent to the entrance reserved for Blue Badge holders. All buildings and the gardens are accessible by wheelchair.
