Loved our afternoon in Southwold especially the pier! Such a pleasant surprise to have a clean characterful pier with a brilliant quirky water fuelled clock at the end! The shops actually have bits in you might want to buy, instead of the usual tat and the gelato, while expensive, is to die for! The beaches looked amazing, beautiful clean sand and so pretty with the huts behind!

I’ve been to Southwold pier many times, and recently visited for the first time this summer and was really disappointed at the changes. Everything’s gone up in price, which you expect to an extent, but combined with the drop in service & the general miserable atmosphere of the staff nowadays, it makes for a really disappointing experience. Let’s hope they buck there ideas up soon, as I can’t imagine we’ll be the only customers not returning.

If you're in the area then it's worth a visit but there's not much there apart from the "Under the pier show".
It is free though.
The restaraunt is quite pricey and the gift shop only has the usual old tat at rifdiculous prices.
The arcade at the front has the usual 2p machines and the grab machines.
There's a fish and chip shop that looks OK and an ice cream shop.

I loved walking on the pier and exploring the shops. The fish and chips were probably the best I’ve ever had. There is so much to see and to photograph! The water temperature was cold, even in the summer months, so not everyone swims here.

Due to a "change in direction" according to the sign in the fish and chip shop gluten free options have now been cancelled. From a reliable and enjoyable meal on a day out to zero in a few words. I apologise for being inconvenient, but in future I will be avoiding the whole of the pier.

Had a lovely day out with family at Southwold the pier is great amazing fish and chips great value for money. Good potion size and quality followed by great ice creams all were great price especially for larger family very affordable but with great quality definitely value for money staff were very friendly. Beach is well looked after and covers by life guards. Parking good price make sure you have change with you we were able to get some from arcade on Pier as little coffee snack hits on the car park won’t give any even if you are purchasing things from them and not so good price wise staff there not friendly in fact quite rude like it was a problem to serve but could just be having a bad day. Other then that good for families trips. The highlight for are family was the ice cream .

Lovely day spent at southwold on a very hot day. Fish and chips on the pier were delicious and the gluten free choice excellent . If you haven’t been I’d highly recommend a visit.

Love Southwold, but this time was just a little too breezy. Onto the pier and then a walk into town for a browse and visit to Admans.
We'll definitely be back.

Thank you to the person who found my wallet and handed it in to the arcade. Thank you to Jonas and Phil in the arcade who looked after my wallet and were very patient with our two children as they attempted to collect over a week, every key ring in their slot machines.

Terrible fish & chips at an even worse price. £32 for me and one friend for tea. And we didn’t even get any fish ! The chips were undercooked thus tasting terrible. Unfortunately I will never purchase food from the pier ever again. The shops have a terrible selection. The only thing that’s still good on this pier are the arcades and the Tim Hunkin room.

I absolutely loved reading all the plaques along the pier - so nice to see so many different ones (not just 'In memoriam'). I would really like to be able to 'buy' a space and create a plaque - is this still possible or have you run out of room?

Yes, we allow dogs on the Pier, they do have to be on a lead however at all times.

My wife's brother tragically died in 1983 and her parents had a plaque put on the pier, we plan to visit this summer, will the plaque still be in place or are they removed after a certain amount of time ?

All plaques that are placed on the pier stay up indefinitely so it will certainly still be there.
