A lovely traditional pier even out of season as everything was open. Dog friendly including shops and arcade too. Interesting water clock and seating was plentiful. Arcade good for little ones but also had a pool table and air hockey.

But went to the gift shop and was greeted but a lovely elf and Santa

The worst fish and chips I have ever eaten

DO NOT GO TO THE PIER FISH AND CHIP SHOP!!!!
My wife and I were looking forward to some fish and chips after a long journey down from Yorkshire.
What we were presented with were chips that had been cooked and left for what must have been hours. They had no taste, anaemic looking and cold. The fish was minute and the batter was over cooked and greasy.
All this for £21.90!! Absolutely disgusting!!
Do not go to this establishment…ever!!

Lovely Situation.

Excellent facilities with quite a few shops to ponder. We had a nice coffee in the lee of the wind, in glorious sunshine. Prices were very reasonable. Worth a visit in the arcade.

Worth a wander up and down the pier. It appears to have been renovated fairly recently with some quirky features including the water clock.

Nice walk along the bracing pier. The amusement arcade is well worth a visit with games I'd never seen before, very funny and entertaining. Had a coffee too on the pier.

Worth a visit - it is free!

If you are in Southwold it is worth a walk down to the pier.

It is free unlike some other piers. There is a pleasant walk to the end of the pier which provides a good backdrop for photos.

Of most interest to me was the arcade games all of which are customised and unique. Well worth a £1 a go with each providing a great laugh for your friends. Try walking across the road with the zimmer frame without an accident. Very clever and very imaginative.

I absolutely loved reading all the plaques along the pier - so nice to see so many different ones (not just 'In memoriam'). I would really like to be able to 'buy' a space and create a plaque - is this still possible or have you run out of room?

My wife's brother tragically died in 1983 and her parents had a plaque put on the pier, we plan to visit this summer, will the plaque still be in place or are they removed after a certain amount of time ?
