It's been a while but I was there with my Dad and we were there to see St Edmunds Church where a long ago relative (1500s) was the Vicar of the Church and happened to stop in the Sailors Reading Room. Could have spent almost all day in there. Great place to visit. Really worth 2 or 3 hours at least.

I loved this little place - free to enter and right by the seafront. It is full of interesting artefacts and memorabilia an a great place to just sit and chill.

Very much a hidden gem. Free to enter but make a contribution towards upkeep by tapping your card on the contactless reader.
Good place to sit and read, or just chill out. Newspapers were provided.
Lots of memorabilia about the sea on display.
I suspect that this room would have lots of stories to tell.

Spent a lovely quiet two hours reading my latest book to the sound of a ticky clock. Went back the next day to do it again too. Very cathartic.

We arrived on a wet and windy day and were delighted when we entered. All you could possibly want to appreciate the fishing and boating history of Southwold and the bravery of those who go to sea.

This is a great place to see some amazing memorabilia of Southwold in its fishing fleet heyday! Everything from photographs of local characters, to figure heads and amazing models of ships used in days gone by.

It's so very interesting to view the men (some families still here) and the models of the fishing fleet.
