Went to see Chicago - it was a great show. Sound was mostly good.
Some comments...
The theatre, once you are inside the building, looks great. Modern and a nice place to be.
People were arriving late and being shown to their seats right up until the 5th song. Distracting.
Seats are very low to the ground and very uncomfortable - they have a very thin layer of cushion. They wobble a lot too when people move. The stalls (to around S - not sure exactly) are not raked at all. This means if you are short you struggle to see without having to angle your head when the person in front moves. If you are tall (I am 6 foot 4) you sit upright like a human lighthouse, very aware of the big inconvenience you are inflicting on the people behind. I spent the first half slouching so people could see. With the low seating position and hard seat this resulted in a numb bum and sore back so I was shifting around a low to get comfy - with the wobbly seats this was annoying for others. In the second half I had no choice but to assume my role as a lighthouse of obstruction.
They were nowhere near enough female toilets. There was a majority of females in the audience. The queues for the ladies loos were amazing. Halfway through the break females started going into the gents on the ground floor - with rather immodest urinals in there this was not acceptable - females queueing alongside men urinating. Went downstairs and was stopped from going into the loo as staff had commandeered it for females use and told me to go upstairs, when I started to get annoyed (they were apparently not coordinated and unaware of what was happening upstairs) they sent me into the disabled loo when it became free. Quite why this situation couldn't be anticipated and managed better (surely the female ratio must always be high for certain shows?) I don't know.
They don't take cash anywhere. I didn't know. Didn't see a sign. Queueing up at the bar then having to rush back to my seat to get a payment card then queue jumping to pay is not fun.
Car parking - we looked around Southend and parked in the car park just along from the Theatre - £21 for 6 hours. No comment - this might be normal for the area.

Why is the bar so expensive? More expensive than all the other bars that surround the theatre.? ********************************************

TRYING to enjoy Swan lake.
Can't people manage ONE hour without rustling packets & filling their faces? It's not a cinema.
SouthendTheatres, can't you sell sweets in packets that don't make so much noise? Or "decant" haribo into paper cups?
Enjoyment ruined by family behind having 3 course (sweet) meal 😔
Won't bother again, it's worth paying to go into London for a better experience

Great location, good venue…….
First time to this theatre…. Upon arrival I saw one member of staff at the door considering there are renovations outside, it was a little chaotic. No directions were being given, people in wheelchairs struggling to enter, guys it was a cold night out there !!! I think this needs to be looked at, as if there was a fire alarm it would have descended into madness!!
Doors to the auditorium opened, instruction was given to find seats, staff were very friendly & accommodating. Show started, everything good, noticed a few times that staff were telling theatre goer’s to stop videoing! I was actually surprised by this as there had been no instruction before the show over the tannoy to not too !!! The usual queues to the toilets, but was surprised the queue going down quickly. Exiting the venue went smoothly..
Looking forward to the next show…

Sat in stalls row g, seat 3 & 4
Saw Calamity Jane
View was fine, slightly side on
BUT THE SEATS ARE SO UNCOMFORTABLE!!!!! After 10mins we both had a "numb bum" which did spoil our evening as we just could not get comfortable.
The actual venue us fine and staff amenable and helpful.

Always enjoy visiting this theatre but it's not as easy to access at the moment as it is undergoing external renovations so there is a bit of a walk to get inside.
The price of drinks and snacks is high and it is card only but worth the effort if you are thirsty.
Shows are always good and the staff helpful.

We laughed till we cried !! Very funny evening indeed, and still chuckling now. Language and content not for the easily offended. Staff attentive. Canapes - double the portions please (for us greed c*ws on that end table !!) Yes Fanny! we will come back .

Normally when someone asked if it was worth having a meal before the show in the restaurant I'd say yes. After this evening I'd tell them it's not worth the extra 2 hours parking. Firstly one of the starters was not available. That's ok,it happens but we didn't find out until after we'd ordered. Then there was no Tortellini but the dish was served with tagliatelle instead, ok, but again we didn't know until after we'd ordered. Then we wanted our desserts to be at the table for the interval. They was a bill waiting for us instead, despite me pre paying for the meal. One desert then arrived and the waitress walked away without saying anything about the other desert. It turned out that again,it was sold out. We ordered another one but was told it would take too long so was given the third option which we took. After one bite the call came to return to our seats. 3 course meal paid for and at 2 course meal delivered. So I can honestly say you're better off just going to a restaurant elsewhere as the cliffs have nothing to offer that other restaurants can't.

Booked tickets for Calamity Jane. All good so far. Received email offering 20% off if I booked a table in the restaurant that night. Contacted Box Office and Hospitality. No Restaurant Service that night. What a joke.

Visited here recently and had very good seats. Full bar service available.
