Hannah and Kyle did a wonderful job of showing us around and explaining in a lot of detail how things worked for radio, TV and the Philharmonic orchestra. It was really fascinating and we had plenty of time to ask questions.
The only suggestions I could make to improve on it really would be to see a show or something being recorded 'in action' and to be given the opportunity to meet presenters, a director, someone from props, scenery/production, for them to explain about different aspects of the industry (rather then just seeing empty rooms). I would love to have seen costume/props/makeup and had the chance to ask more questions about other areas.
It was also great for my son to "have a go" at presenting - it would be good if there were more opportunities to try having a go at things.
A lovely trip though, and I'm really glad we went.

Visited yesterday,very interesting insight to how both radio and television productions. Mark and Matt excellent guides, very knowledgeable. Loved 'reading the news'in interactive studio. Would highly recommend the tour to others.

We took our 12yr old daughter on the tour. Good value for money. A tour of the studios seeing an on air Radio 6 show. Into TV studios and the BBC breakfast studio. Brilliant fun guides with a lot of knowledge described how it all works.

Interesting tour given by two guides. The anechoic room was fabulous and the sound effects room shattered many an illusion!. The security at the start was a joke, you had to empty pockets and get scanned, but there was no separation between those that had been scanned and those that hadn’t which would have allowed any item to be passed from one person to another to avoid detection.

Excellent tour of the BBC (and other) studios. Highlights were the biggest studio in Europe, the ‘breakfast couch’, BBC Philarmonic Studio and Radio 6 studio. Thanks to our BBC guides we learnt a lot.

We enjoyed the BBC tour. Our guide was good and we got to see many interesting things including Radio 6 on air, the Blue Peter set and the news studio. It was informative and the guide was good.

Really enjoyed the 1 1/2 hour pre booked tour of the BBC in Salford this morning given by Hannah and Luke. Very interesting to learn various facts about both radio and TV and be taken to several studios (including one where Blue Peter had recently been filmed), learn where the 'green' room name comes from and stand in the dead room.
Thoroughly recommended and great VfM.

Great tour of 3 buildings. Our tour guides Sean and Victoria were outstanding and really made the tour. They were funny and enthusiastic bringing lots of stories based on experience as well as giving lots of technical information. Highly recommended.

Excellent visit with very good guide. Grandchildren 11 and 13 who thoroughly enjoyed themselves esp interactive parts. Would recommend it for different type of trip to keep children occupied during school holidays.

14/11/2019: BBC Shows and Tours at Media City
We merged into groups and we all contributed our ideas towards the question of: -
"If I was to make a programme for the BBC, what would that be?"
The programme was tailored to be broadcast across all digital formats.
We decided upon creating a series about the different areas of mental health and how the experience impacts us as the suffering individual.
We also conceived the adverse effects of how climate change impacts our health.
So both of these suggestions became the background to our short documentary series
Each episode is going to be delivered into a compressed form of ten minutes per episode
Revealing the personalities at the end of each episode who have lived the experience
This was our proposed suggestion to the BBC team leaders at each of the tables. We worked with at least two representatives at any one time.
We went around each of the tables and shared our ideas with audience other participants who attended the tour.
We had 50 minutes to contribute our ideas to produce this particular content
We presented our written ideas to a panel of judges who gave their feedback from the presentation performed in a timeframe of two minutes each table.
We each received a certificate for our participation in the workshop
There was a careers talk delivered on all of the opportunities offered by the BBC including volunteer schemes and work experience opportunities.
Apply for opportunities online.
Each work experience scheme runs for a prefixed term of up-to two weeks at a time.
We received a complementary goodie bag of merchandise
An optional guided tour of the BBC studios was delivered at the end of the interactive session.

Hello there, would you mind removing this write from the BBC Tours page as this was not a BBC Tour you attended. I would imagine it was an event held by the BBC at MediaCityUK, but it wasn't a Tour.

Hi I want to take my 9 year old and a couple of[ friends on the tour for his 10th birthday and wondered if the Cbbc tour would be best as they all still love watching and it sounds more interactive but they all love sport and Match of the Day too. Any advice as to which is the most suitable tour for them would be really appreciated. Thanks!

We visited in July on the general tour so cannot specifically talk about a CBBC tour. However, the general tour does include the CBBC studio and demonstrations of sound effects. You see a rather empty Match of the Day studio as well. But a highlight for your young guests would probably be the sample Breakfast studio when they can see themselves on screen and which includes weather forecasting which was very popular with a young family on our tour.

Usually during the football season The Match of The Day studio isn't available on Fridays or Saturdays due to the production schedules.

My children are 10 and 8. Am I right that we can't do the main tour with them but have to do the CBBC tour? They are big Match of the day fans so would love to see that studio and my eldest loves the news and breakfast! Please could someone tell me which tour they can go on and if they will be able to see the sports and news studios?
