Took my nieces to see the castle, It was a beautiful day and my nieces thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Impressive site and loved learning the history. Recommend visiting

Wow..... just wow.
We have an elderly Labrador so i walked alone from Seahouses along the beach to the castle and met family there. Nipped up a sand dune to be faced with an amazing sight. So imposing yet beautiful. I think this is the most impressive castles i have ever been to.
Staff were readily available and were very helpful. It was very clear where you could and could not take the dog.
Check the web site because we went on a day when the local dog rescue charity were dog sitting for a donation of £10 an hour which meant for once the family could go inside together.
The information available both through reading the boards, interactive and room guides was amazing. It is impressive to see how the castle was added to over the years. So please the family allow visits into such a large area of the castle.
We parked in the castle car park which was a decent price to be fair for the day.
I recommend you look into Historic Houses membership if you are visiting here and Alnwick together, if you live near one more location you easily make your money back.
Highly recommend.
Oh and i forgot about the Last Kingdom display that was a plus.

Very foggy so no views but was great day anyway. Staff very welcoming. Lots to see and very atmospheric in the mist. A must visit if in Northumberland.

I have visited many castles around the UK but it's safe to say that Bamburgh is now my favourite castle. It was majestic and the grounds were amazing. I also visited 'The Last Kingdom' costume exhibition because I'm a big fan of the series.

We were stopping in Northumberland and one of our must see was Bamburgh Castle.
There is plenty to see and do with daily schedules.
In with the ticket price was a guided tour of the outside of the castle, it lasted nearly an hour and was very informative.
Would highly recommend

What a lovely, interesting piece of British history. The staff were really friendly and knowledgeable.
We were particularly impressed with the accessibility options in place.
Views from the castle and towards it from the village were amazing.

Having visited Bamburgh Castle 13 yrs ago with young children I could not remember much other than the amazing imposing building on the beach edge. Returning with now grown up children and Bamburgh Castle did not disappoint. Vast grounds with stunning views, it never felt busy despite there being a lot of people there and lots of children loving the grounds to reenact sword battles.
The information in the museum is well set out and interesting and the interactive videos through the staterooms make for a very enjoyable trip through the castle. The family have done an excellent job bringing the 3000 years of history to life.
Highlight of this trip for one of my sons was the display of costumes and props from the last kingdom series
One of the few castles I have visited where I felt the entrance fee was worth the money.
The cafe is also excellent with lovely friendly staff
The information in the museum is well set out and interesting and the interactive videos through the staterooms make for a very enjoyable trip through the castle. The family have done an excellent job bringing the 3000 years of history to life.

First time in Bamburgh Castle and we had a wonderful time, the Castle is incredible (very well kept too) with stunning views. Staff were pleasant and very accommodating especially one Lady called Sarah she was very helpful and kind. Unfortunately there was one member of staff with red curly hair that was dismissive and incredibly rude who told us to 'move on' because there was a private tour on when we wanted to see the artifacts and Last Kingdom memorabilia. Aside from this it's a wonderful place that I would definitely go to again with my family they enjoyed it immensely 🏰😊

We recently visited and from seeing it in the distance we knew we where going to be amazed. The view from near the cricket feild is breathtaking. Once up at the castle there was plenty of parking. The castle it's self is magnificent we had such a great day. The last kingdom display was brilliant and very interesting. My daughter got to meet marley which was her highlight. Such a beautiful castle with amazing views!

We love it when Marley comes to Bamburgh and he clearly enjoys his Bamburgh breakfast buffet and then is pampered by everyone. He has a great time!

Just spent a full half day at Banburgh Castle - all in all a great visit.
Loved the Last Kingdom exhibit as I am a massive fan and the views from the grounds are amazing.My only grief is the cashless situation - card to park - people faffing about trying to pay with phones etc when they could just hand over a fiver or coins - don’t you trust your staff - also bought a single cup of tea and was again forced to use a card which I find totally unacceptable for a few pounds. Please reconsider this ridiculous situation.

With regard to us being a cashless site there are several reasons for this. We have staff who are lone workers and it puts them in a very vulnerable position, any collection of cash is incredibly expensive now and again puts staff in a vulnerable position if they are carrying cash around the site. Finally we used to obtain change from our local bank to enable us to make up floats and we no longer have a bank anywhere near us which enables us to do this.
Taking all of this into consideration it was decided that the best and safest practice for the business and the staff was to remain cashless.
It's always great to obtain feedback so we thank you for taking to time to write a review.

Probably too late to help you = I seldom check Alerts; I am sorry. The guard at the parking lot called for a golf cart which took my husband/myself right up to the center court. I hope you were able to see the castle; it is really interesting.

Have they changed the dog policy? Website says dogs are allowed everywhere but the state rooms but when I go to buy a ticket it states "Dog (allowed In Grounds Only And Not Inside The Castle.) Please Keep Your Dog On A Lead At All Times".

The staterooms are the inside of the castle. We saw dogs everywhere else - in the grounds and in the museum but always on leads.

Hi,
We visited with my retired parent, there was no concessions for OAP’s.
We pre-booked our tickets on the website, but couldn’t see any concessions other than for Children and for reduced access fee if certain areas are closed off.
I’m sure they will enjoy their visit, but I would suggest parking up the hill next to the castle as it’s quite a steep walk from the main road car park.

The nearest rail stations are Alnmouth and Berwick upon Tweed. Both can reach the castle using Arriva buses or there are also plenty of taxis.
