I bought my friend this experience for Christmas last year. We planned to visit when the weather was nicer and glad we waited as it was a beautiful sunny day!
The experience was very chilled and relaxed, we went out as a group of 6. There was no pressure to keep right up with the group and were allowed to keep our own pace.
The route was a lovely ride through a woodland which then opened out onto a field where we then turned round to head back.
I’d definitely recommend this experience to anyone from beginners to advanced riders

Having been riding at DPT for nearly 7 years now I can honestly say that this really is a fantastic place to come no matter on your ability level or experience with Horses. Everyone is welcomed and catered for and well looked after, including the Horses which is paramount. The staff are fantastic and I just feel so at home when I visit. I had ridden at a few other riding schools before discovering DPT and have never returned for several reasons. I still continue to ride at DPT on a very regular basis and have never had any reason to go anywhere else over all these years! During the wet and winter months we are still able to have canters in the safe places (ground conditions considered), chats, laughs and just an overall really pleasant experience

What can I say, I have been here a few times, the new yard manager becky was a fantastic lead, lots of canters, lots of chatting and laughter, the horses are very well looked after and happy in their work. Will be back in 2025 x

Fabulous horse riding at DPT. Wonderful horses who are so well behaved but still have lovely cheeky personalities. The treks take you through gorgeous Derbyshire countryside and the staff at the stables are always so polite, helpful and good fun! Would highly recommend a visit.

Thank you for our lovely 1.5 hour hack yesterday. The staff are welcoming and have lovely relationships with the horses. Great route through the country park. Duke you were a pleasure to spend some time with. My daughter also enjoyed a great ride on Connie too. Thank you so much 😊

I'm just back from a fantastic 2 hour ride, in the sun. I have been coming here for 2 years and have enjoyed it every time. The staff are lovely and chatty and the horses are well behaved and a treat to ride, whoever you get. Have taken my great niece (13) a few times too who has enjoyed every minute. Would recommend to anyone wanting a lovely ride on terric horses in beautiful surroundings

Fabulous time with Jayne! I visited with a friend, we had a lovely trek, we saw deer and pheasant and had a good natter. I feel really keen to learn and spend some time with my friend thank you for such a positive experience! X

Have been 3 times now on 1.5 hours and 2 hour treks and have been a little disappointed in the amount of canters we had, was expecting more, a lot of walking and trotting, which got a little boring.
Being at the back, I couldn't hear what commands were being given out.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your review. I have since been in touch with you personally and hope you understand the reasoning behind why the last couple of treks weren’t as fast as you usually like. I hope my reassurance of ensuring you enjoy any subsequent treks with us helped.
The ground conditions obviously affect the speed that we go at and also the ability of the riders. One of the treks you came on was a mixed ability/walk, trot, possible canter trek as we had not seen your young niece ride at canter before. We usually do shorter canters and not as many when we have young children who are not used to riding outside of a school. When it is wet on the ground this also obviously affects the speed of the Trek.
The safety of our riders is paramount as I am sure anyone would understand/expect.
I will also reiterate to all our trek leader the importance of ensuring everyone can hear any commands.

I have been going to DPT since January 2024. I had not been on a horse for 18 years. When I filled my original forms in I was honest (as everyone should be) because by doing that they are then able to match you with a horse for your ability. On that very first trek I was allocated Mr Tubs, and he was brilliant. He gave me such a confidence boost, and really looked after me. That is complete testament to Jayne, and all the staff that are there and care for the horses. From then, I have absolutely fallen head over heels for DPT and I am there multiple times a month. I have had a variety of treks, I have been on solo treks, group treks, private one to one lessons. I have also been on so many of the horses: Mr Tubs, Florence, Connie, Heidi, Ruffus, Ace, Sassy, Lorraine. And they have all been brilliant. Whenever I email to book in the staff always get back to me within 24 hours and I know once I have paid my deposit my booking is confirmed and that’s when I can put it in my diary. I have been down at the yard when the farrier is there, and the care the horses receive is the best. I absolutely adore the staff that are there currently: Jayne, Bec, Kelly, Amelie, Ethan, and Lee have always been amazing with me. When I come to DPT it’s been amazing for me, as I get to spend time in the beautiful countryside with these beautiful horses and if I’m ever with Bec or particularly Kelly it’s like riding with my close friend and counsellor. I don’t just learn horse skills when I’m there but life skills too. I am just so so grateful that I only live 20 minutes away. And so grateful for Jayne letting us ride all of her beautiful horses. Can’t thank Jayne and her crew enough for a lovely 2 hour ride today in stunning, off road, countryside. Beautiful, good natured horses clearly very well looked after. I went with my daughter we had a great time and felt very safe. Jayne recommended the Derbyshire Pub five mins away for lunch after… she was right the food is amazing! Great day out! We will be back x

Yes we do cater for complete beginners. Please see below for prices per person:-

Would you be able to cater for a 75yr old novice? My mums quite poorly but we're thinking of a whole family experience. There are 8 adults and three teenagers. An hour would probably be long enough.

It depends on how many riders you have, private 1-1 is most expensive. £45 per hour for a private 1-1 trek tuition, it's much cheaper if you bring in at least 3 other riders though.

They cater for all levels of ability. Your trek leader will discuss this with you when you phone up and again upon your arrival.
They are brilliant at accommodating all levels of ability
