I was so looking forward to visiting this property and having a look back at life. As interesting as it was it was also VERY VERY dark .... I understand the need to keep UV rays out of the rooms but surely the application of UV Blocking Window Film would be better than keeping the curtains permantly closed. Very disappointed.

We stopped off here whilst driving home from Great Yarmouth. A good stopping off point. Nothing spectacular but a mark of a point in time that has been preserved.

Lovely house and very interesting to see. Staff were very helpful and friendly. The tour was very informative and interesting to hear. The house is over 3 floors, it isn’t disabled friendly. I would recommend booking as it does get busy. The car park/orchard also gets quite full so can be tricky to park. Also, leave your bags in the car as you can’t take them around. They do offer lockable storage in the house for bags.

I think this is now one of my favourite places to visit. It is so lovely to see something so different to the usual mansions and sprawling grounds but what really was special was meeting the volunteer who knew Walter and William. Thank goodness this collection and home were saved, a real treasure.

Visited Mr.Straw's house in Worksop last week as it has been on my list of places I must see for so long. What an amazing house. Completely locked in time with everything exactly as left by Mr. Straw. Following an excellent introduction by Peter we were left to explore the house on our own, being extremely careful not to touch any of the contents. It preservation is a credit to both the National Trust and to the excellent team of volunteers. We had a fascinating conversation with the conservator who has a very enviable job of cataloguing everything in the house! and with Sheila, who as a small child, knew the Straws. Truly amazing visit brought to life by brilliant staff and volunteers.

What an amazing house! The National Trust have done an amazing job of keeping this house exactly as it was left by Mr Straw. We booked an entry time of 11.30 and were part of a group of 4. We were introduced to the house by Peter who was excellent. He certainly knew his stuff - was entertaining and helpful. After introductions outside the house we were allowed to walk around the house on our own and had a plan which also told us about the different rooms and what they had been used for by the Straw family. Well worth a visit. Parking is directly across the road!

Probably the best National Trust house we have been to, thanks to Sheila. She had so many stories of the family she bought the whole house alive.
Booked our slot, sat nav took us right there, lots of parking across the road. Checked in and then off with our guide to be told a few things about this amazing time capsule

What an interesting National Trust property! Well worth a visit. A time capsule of bygone times. Excellent guides who brought the whole story alive. Book your time slot online. Good parking opposite the home. We spent about 1.5 hours here. They ask you not to take bags in so either leave in car or the reception will look after them for you.
