A beautiful visit, a sort walk from the main road. The drive here was a bit sketchy with small roads and apple maps not sure where abouts the site was. On arrival it was lovely, loads of information and the mosaics were just amazing. Would be a brilliant picnic spot!

Really lovely place to visit. Walk down a farm track to find the villa in a field on your right. A lovely area for kids to explore and learn about the history of the area. Love the signs from English Heritage and it is great to see the mosaics being restored.

Parking isn't as close as English Heritage claim on the website. It is a 15 minute walk down a hill to the site. There are horses in stables and sheep on one side. There are some nice views as you go down. The highlight would be the mosaics, which are closed except on specific days but do not seem to be advertised. The next ones are Aug 8-9. You can look through a window to see them. It's too bad they cannot somehow have this open all the time - perhaps behind glass and able to walk around it.

This attraction is in my road. We don't have a pub, or a shop or streetlights (this last one is perfect, I'm unsure about the other two). But we do have the amazing Roman Villa, with its fantastic mosaic floor. It's just too good to be true but it's true.

Well worth the walk down the lane to reach it, this large complex of foundations of a Roman villa really gives you an indication of how it was laid out. The real highlight, however is the mosaic which is remarkably well preserved and a work of art in its own right.

Not terribly easy to find and from the " car park" it's a half-mile downward trek along a very steep cart track with loose stones to help damage your ankles.

We entered the path by way of the clearly marked gate, even though we noticed many others going down a nice dry gravel road. As it turned out, the way we took was longer and filled with some muddy spots. The other folks knew better, and when it was time to leave, we followed them. All in all, a nice visit. We wish we could have entered the building with the mosaics but we understand it was closed due to some vandalism. You could see through the windows, but it would have been nicer to go inside. Sad that we have to lock things like this up to protect them.

Worth seeking out if you have an hour to spare. It's free - and the info panels help orientate you. Parking is in a lay-by, with an easy 5-min walk down a track.
