Very lovely place right on the canal, the staff were extremely polite and helpful especially towards my young children and food was delicious. I would 100% recommend the chicken burger and recommend it as a place to go with your family. Ill be returning very soon! This is the best marstons pub I’ve been to in a long time.

Friendly helpful staff and nice food... Perfect lunch stop on canal. Staff kindly allowed us to leave a car as we were on the canals.

We stopped off at this pub, today 6th May on our way home from the Black Country Museum. I had always fancied eating at this pub so we tried it. Unfortunately we will not be going again. Partner ordered the fish and chips at roughly £14. Granddaughter, age 8 ordered the children's half fish and chips (for bigger appetites) at £9.50. As I am on a new diabetic medication I just ordered the children's cheeseburger and fries, £5.90.
After asking at the bar if the children's half fish and fries was enough for an 8 year old, and being told yes I ordered it.
The food arrived in good time. Did it look appetising? No it certainly didn't. As they put my partners fish and chips down, i honestlythought im glad i didnt order chips with my burger. Then they put my burger and fries on the table, and i wished id ordered chips with it. The fries with my burger were overcooked snapable pegs. I couldn't eat them. My partners fish was very, very dry. My Granddaughter tried her fish and said, and I quote " this is the worst meal I've ever had in a pub". She tried to eat it as we were all hungry, but she couldn't. The half fish was also very small for £9.50. Yes I told the lady behind the bar that the food really wasn't nice and we couldn't eat it, who said that she was very sorry.

our table was next to the fire door door with a broom and cleaning station wedged up against us. the staff were working hard but seemed overwhelmed- clearly understaffed. our food took ages to arrive and things missing when it did. my philly cheese steak baguettes not great. meat was fatty, chips over cooked and for some reason a napkin under my food! plus a questionable salad with orange slices with dirty skin. i’ve always heard such good things about this place but it did not live up to expectations.

Visited the star on Christmas day for food, it really was lovely.the staff were so polite and welcoming. I had the lamb shank was out of this world and food presentation was very impressive. Will definitely be returning next Christmas

Lovely clean family pub with very friendly staff,
Treats were available for our furry friends
Was made to feel so welcome, pub was lovely and warm after our cold walk, the mulled wine was amazing and mince pie, will definitely be popping in again

Called in with the family for a birthday. Had a brilliant meal . Food was perfect and the drinks was great Speaking to the owners and they informed us it's undernew managemt. Would definitely recommend. And we will be back.
