Very Short walk sadly no platypus to be seen, but lovely stroll.
Not worth doing unless you have other plans in the area but a pleasant place to look around.
Information centre is really lovely and interesting.

Visited in the middle of the day and were lucky to see two in separate locations. Well worth the trip down to Geeveston.

Visited mid-day thus not expecting to catch any platypus in the wild and it seemed that way as we walked along the path from the viewing point. However on our return walk, we re-visited the viewing point and lo and behold, spotted one exiting its burrow into the river for some feed. Delightful creature and did not expect it to be a graceful swimmer.
Advised to park at the visitor centre which is a 4 minute walk to bridge with steps down to the viewing point and path.

Saw a platypus swimming in the river at broad daylight. Saw it right from the platform where the water is somewhat deeper and slow flowing. Took a local bus from Hobart to get to Geeveston, a 1,5 hour ride through magnificent landscapes. Defenitely worth a visit.

We visited mid afternoon so were not hopeful of seeing a platypus, believing they are nocturnal. There was a platypus swimming and feeding right in front of us when we arrived.
Went back the next afternoon and saw it again!
Make sure you do this if in Geeveston.

Go in the late afternoon (or early morning). Stay still and quiet and you may be rewarded, as we were, with a perfect view (from the viewing platform) of a platypus swimming around and diving! It was a special day for us.

Very happy that we took the recommendation from staff at the Visitor Information Centre. It was a lovely walk along the river bank but the platypus were in hiding, not even a ripple and nothing sighted from the viewing platform. Nice park area adjacent

Yes, we saw platypus! We had no expectations but we saw three platypus coming right up over the rocks. The walk is easy and allows clear views of the river.

Up to 4 platypus spotted today, in the river opposite the skate park. Surprised to see them out & about in the middle of the day.
