This was our first stop at Phillip Island on our full day tour.
We started with breakfast at the coffee shop which was lovely. We took a Smashed Avocado Toast and Eggs Benedict, followed by hot drinks and brownies. All very tasty (though slightly steep pricewise.....).
Then we went for a walk through the traditional old farm with lots of exhibits to see and lots of things to learn (for all ages, by the way).
Animals, flowers, machinery, working farm artefacts, all well explained by posters and local guides.
Very Pleasant Place!! Lovely Morning!!

While staying in Phillip Island we decided to go to Churchill Island, we tried to do it a couple of years ago but it was closed due to COVID.
It was a lovely experience, after going over the narrow one lane concrete bridge to the Island the road opens up into a well maintained gravel road with lovely old post and rail fencing on either side.
We then passed some terrific looking long horned cattle who were eating away looking very contented.
The road took us to the carpark where there is the information centre, it was too early for it to open so we took off on the walk which started near the info centre and it was well marked.
The gravel track was good, well looked after and followed the water.
There are great views over the Bay and plenty of Birdlife about
As we walked the track on a lovely day we came across some beautiful horses and black face sheep. Plenty of seating along the track all placed at great viewing spots.
The walk was a leisurely nearly two hours, we enjoyed the company of many different birds, big and small
Finished back at the info centre for a good look at the information boards that show the timeframe of the history of Churchill Island. A very interesting beautiful historic place to visit, glad we did it. Make sure you visit when in the area and enjoy the walk

Plenty of farm animals to see. All happy for a pat and a scratch. Great views over the bay and surrounding areas. Definitely worth a visit.

A family friendly trip to the farm, but demos only in the afternoon would disappoint if you came in the morning, cafe rather dear. Shame some of the walk was shut off with tree surgery.

Thanks for the review, many of our demos can only be held once a day for the safety of the animals. We do aim to keep thing safe and have to close off any areas that need maintenance, sorry this impacted you.

yes, we went to Philip Island.. the place was nice... we enjoyed the zoo... I recommend you if you wanna watch a penguin parade buy ticket online before you go... week before or month before you go... we missed it because we don't buy tickets ahead. when we get there the ticket was sold out.

We had read online about the sheep shearing, which was the main activity that we wanted to see. So we had made special arrangements to arrive at 2pm in order to see it. Sadly it was not on. Apparently just the school holidays and the weekend which is a real shame. The sheep dog demonstration and the whip cracking was fun, but perhaps not really worthy of the admission fee alone.

Sorry you didn't get to see the shearing. Unfortunately it isn't something we are able to do every day. We do make sure we have some activities and are glad the dog demonstration and whip cracking were fun.

Lovely, easy, relaxing, historical coastal walk with stunning views and wetland birds, other birds who sang beautifully, sheep, horse, geese etc… lunch at cafe was superb, coffee was hot - I recommend the crepes with lemon curd/berries coulis, and thick pumpkin soup .. do sit eating on the verandah with an amazing view!! Didn’t do the farm but didn’t need to in order to enjoy the place… maybe next time..

Visited this farm in July with family. We loved the relax country feel and rolling green hills. This farm was set on an island and it is located right next to the waters.
On our day of visit, we attended the daily shows such as cow milking, sheep shearing, working dog show and whips cracking. The demonstrator was a charming lady that encouraged visitors to try eaxh experience hands on. We also loved the farm animals which included horses, donkey, cows, sheeps, chickens, guinea pigs, goats etc. It was overall a fun and entertaining afternoon for the entire family.
Tips: Try to arrive by noon for the daily shows
On our day of visit, we attended the daily shows such as cow milking, sheep shearing, working dog show and whips cracking. Today I visited this wonderful place, historic home, nature reserve and past working farm. The information plaques told a story of how our ancestors had a drive to make a life for themselves in what was a frontier territory. There are various activities throughout the day.
I had lunch at the cafe and it was the best quinoa, brown rice and chicken salad I’ve ever had. Lots of great choice for lunch and snacks, all very reasonably priced. The staff were friendly and welcoming.
There is plenty of space for kids to run around and picnic benches so you can pack your own lunch if you don’t want to eat at the restaurant.
Very highly recommended.

We really enjoyed the visit. We initially went there around 10:00 where we were greeted by a fine young gentleman who was very nice and friendly. He was able to answer all our curious questions about the island and the surroundings.
The lady who demonstrated the whip cracking and other activities was very kind and friendly we really enjoyed spending the whole day there. The atmosphere was very nice and relaxing. Although it rained every now and then, we managed to make the most out of it.
We enjoyed petting the animals and milking the cow.

Hello Nibster,
May I know which tour agency did you book your Philip Island tour with, and did you do it when you arrived in Melbourne or you booked it online? I am also keen on the Churchill Heritage Island Farm. Is it too tight a day itinerary to cover all 3 spots (including Koala tour) as I am travelling with 2 children aged 5 & 7? Any tip from you will be greatly appreciated. Kind regards.
