We stayed here one night in order to visit friends in the area. It was no great shakes. Pool is large and closed on Labor Day. So no pool on 9/11. Store was mediocre. Staff were very laissiez-faire. No map, no rules, no tag. Grass is completely worn away at camp sites from heavy use all Summer. Shower houses are cement blocks and rudimentary at best.

Did the 2 hr canoeing trip on the river. Never saw one ranger. There were scary gross hillbillies everywhere blasting ( large speakers on the bank pointing at the river) loud gross vulger music. A lot of drunks in inflatables. As an Ohioan I was embarrassed. A shame because the canoeing was excellent, pretty scenery and well shaded after 4 pm. May try to hike or canoe again on weekday in the fall but was very disappointed on an early June Saturday.

I went here for a hike at summer camp last summer. They lost me in the park, and the only thing that kept me alive was my adrenaline guiding me out of the park. I could have fallen off any number of those cliffs. The counselors told me it was safe.

What a gorgeous park! The hiking was excellent—so peaceful and colorful along the river and with good views above and below the gorge. I liked how we could “add on” various trails to make them as long or short, easy or hard, as we wanted. I also like the variety of lodging options. We chose a tent site and enjoyed both the large quiet green space and the nearby flush toilets and camp store. But we could have chosen cabins or RVs or primitive tent sites or full-service lodge. Excellent range! They were about to hold a family Halloween weekend that looked really fun for families with kids, too.

This tent camping weekend adventure brought to you by five amazing couples, some cool pups and Mohican State Park. The tent sites were spacious however there is only one car space for each reserved area. Bathrooms with running water are in a small building not too far away from the tent sites, but a bit of a walk. The shower house is located closer to the main road and was very clean. ODNR campfire rings at each site along with a picnic table. Plenty of goodies available at the State Park store, including ice cream and frozen meats. Trail maps are two dollars each, but you can use your phone to take a picture of them, they have a copy laying on the counter. The last glacier to enter Ohio, the Wisconsinan, ended in this region providing the scenic beauty we saw. Clear Fork Gorge, cuts into the sandstone creating steep cliffs and rock outcroppings and is 1000 feet wide and 300 feet deep. The gorge is a Registered National Natural Landmark. And did you know Mohican is the Canoe Capital of Ohio? 🛶

We've stayed in a variety of Ohio State Park cabins and Mohican is still our first choice! Right on the water, level ground to play and easy access to hiking trails. We are able to take the kids bikes so they can ride around and the to playground when they're bored and I want to just sit by the water and enjoy the peace or read a book.

Stayed two nights in a cabin at Mohican Campground. Cabin was clean and had everything we needed. Located right beside the Mohican River where we could sit in the river to cool off after hiking all day. Firepit was convenient and we cooked all our meals there. Wonderful getaway!

Parking was very difficult - I found one parking spot and got out of my car to see the gorge overlook which was beautiful - I understand that it was the holiday weekend, but I did not even see any signs that showed me how to get to parking at or near Lyon Falls Trail - I stopped at the Mohican Lodge and both ladies there told me that parking in that area would be a challenge - I ended up leaving... I am spoiled with all of the signs and parking at Hocking Hills!

This park is so beautiful. The campground is impeccably clean, including restrooms and showers. The staff is great. We enjoyed hiking on the very varied trails. Biking is great, and the campground was quiet and peaceful at night. Would definitely visit again.

Beautiful park with lots of hiking trails. Unfortunately the Lyons Falls Trail is pretty difficult for someone who is not young and steady on their feet. We weren't far on the trail when we came to an area that we would have had to walk down, then across a small stream then up on the other side. Because there were no steps and it was very muddy, I felt it would be dangerous to attempt to continue. So we tried reaching the falls from the other part of a trail. We took the Pleasant Hill trail to the dam then continued across. That part of the trail was difficult in my opinion. It was strenuous, full of tree roots and extremely narrow at some parts. Unfortunately we were not able to get to the falls.

Is there a section of the park that has a pavilion that’s within a short walking distance from the parking lot? Looking for a picnic area here for a small group

Goo morning. Yes, the covered bridge has a large picnic area with picnic tables, charcoal grills, and rest rooms. My wife and I hiked Lyons Falls Trail, which has a trailhead adjacent to the covered bridge, and then enjoyed a picnic at the aforementioned picnic area once we completed the round trip hike. It’s very picturesque as the picnic area provides nice view of the river.
Can you put up 2 tents on 1 camp site?

How far of a hike from south entrance to fire tower, covered bridge, gorge overlook and maybe grist mill? Please give distance for each location from prior location and not total for the entire walk. Thanks

For a walk in reservation, what are your chances of getting a site arriving on Mon Oct 15, looking to stay for a week. I have never tried walk in before. I know its a busy week.
