We first went to the memorial location. This was a cute little park and it provided a bike trail that you could use to travel to the battlefield, a short distance down the road.
The battlefield had a great walking trail with many information boards to read. I was disappointed that the visitor center was not open, but they had left the stamp outside
and the bathrooms were open - some redemption earned.
It was an informative stop and easy parking - don't miss it if you are in town.

This was a nice little walk on the loop trail behind the visitor center. Unfortunately, the visitor center was closed when we arrived but the weather was perfect to walk the trail. We learn a lot by reading the signs at various points. Several benches for people to sit along the trail.

The Visitor's center is not open. There is an easy to walk trail with information about battle at various spots. The trail took us about 1 hour to walk. There is no evidence left of the battlefield itself. Note the battle and monument are not at the same location.

Compelling story here. For a long time, the site of the battle was thought to be west of here. Some thorough archeology unearthed enough evidence to show that it was actually fought here, at the current battlefield park. There is still work to be done, but what you have now (July, 2021) is a beautiful 1.5 mile walk on a path that loops through both wood and prairie, interspersed with helpful plaques with images and explanations of the before, during, and after of a significant battle in North American history. I would recommend some bug spray for the walk through the woods, at least in the summer.

There really is not much to this site, aside from some signage placed around a walking loop. There is plenty of parking at a small visitors center; however, the VC was closed when I visited. You can get in some steps on the 1.5 mile loop and see the general location of the battle, but don't expect to be blown away. The monument is a short drive away with a third related site, Ft. Miamis, also within reasonable driving distance. Ft. Miamis is where the British forces were stationed and all the remains of that location is some earthworks with some signs as well.

Really into history and made a trip through this historical area. It's a nice walking path and good exercise. There us plenty of sign boards to see what's going on.

Still being developed, but walking the Northwest Territory Trail was great. There are message boards up around the trail to explain what had happened and it is very interesting. The building at the entrance seems to be an event center rather than a visitor center. There are bathrooms at it though. The hike is pretty flat and is wooded for about 30% of it. I enjoyed it.

I was on the fence about coming here. We visited Fort Meigs first & I have to say, if you only have time for that or Fallen Timbers, pick Fort Meigs. At least they have a nice visitor center THAT"S OPEN!
Both sites of Fallen Timbers are easily accessed off HWY 24. Watch for the brown signs.
There are 2 sites. One that's closer to Maumee River & a bike path, one by a large mall. The site sort of by the river is the one they originally thought was the true site of the battle. There's a large statue. Some information boards & a rock where Chief Turkey Foot fell in battle. We stopped here first & it was underwhelming. If it wasn't summer, you might get a view of the river. The park seems large for what's there.
The second site (by the mall) is worth going to as long as you take the hike. 1.5 miles of a finely graveled path. Easy & flat. You could take strollers & kids on this one. It goes through the site of the battle & starts out through a wooded area. Many information boards throughout the trail, you get a lot of history & a blow by blow of the battle. It's a lovely trail through the woods, but unfortunately, busy HWY 24 takes away a lot of the enjoyment. You hear it throughout the entire trail, very loud. You see it as you leave the woods & circle back to the trailhead.
The restrooms are fortunately outside the closed visitor center & were open when we were there on a Sunday. Too bad about the visitor center. It would be nice to have it open since we're told this was such an important battle in US history.

Had the opportunity to stop by on our vacation. Just finished reading "The Pioneers" by David McCullough. Was interesting to see one of the places mentioned in the book that opened Ohio to settlement. Causes you to ponder what we did as a people to the Native tribes.

There's no visitors center at Fallen Timbers Battlefield - there are just restrooms open to the public and the other part of the pavilion is for rent.

How long would you estimate exploring doing the 1.5 loop of the battlefield, the monument on the other side, getting the stamp at the library and Fort Miamis?
Also, is Fort Miamis really worth stopping at (based on the pictures)?

About 2 hours including driving between locations.
If you are in the neighborhood and you are a U.S. history buff it's worth a stop. If they get the funds to finish the visitors center and improve the interpretation at the battlefield proper it could be a pretty nice site. The Fort Miamis site and library are in a very pretty residential area of Maumee and there are some good places to eat nearby.
