Much more than a trail, this paved path is great for biking, walking, running, and for your pet. Easy access from many locations, and the path is neatly divided like a street. Trash cans along the way are provided to keep the trail clean. I look forward to returning in the fall to observe the lovely autumnal foliage.

Multiple places to pull over and get onto this trail. I go to the southern extreme of the Montclova Elementary School parking lot. There is a "U" or "V" shaped paved "bike" path that by bike-mounted GPS is a very reproducible 39.9 to 39.95 miles. This includes both the north and south forks of the Wabash Cannonball, and means one is doing each fork in both directions (covering each leg going and coming) to get back to the starting point. The south fork goes through Whitehouse and another small town, and the paved part ends at Fulton-Lucas Co. Road. The north fork ends at the same road, so if one doesn't mind biking on a (paved) rural road, could do this as a loop. Also, these forks extend to dirt bike paths if one wants to go farther. The north fork passes through Oak Openings Metropark, and there appear to be some paved paths into Oak Openings, but I've never done those. The two forks connect at the "bottom" of the "V" through some neighborhoods. For most of the paved bike path, one is crossing rural roads about every mile. The entire path is well-maintained and mostly VERY level, except a couple underpasses through the connecting neighborhoods. Lots of rabbits, chipmunks, birds, farms, and not generally much traffic on the roads or the bike paths. May be busier on weekends. Some sunny "miles" and some shadier ones. A couple bathrooms on each fork, and I think water available at some of these during the summer also.

Length of visit - depends. If you bike 10mph, it's 4hr; 20mph, 2hr. Or, you can do just one fork, or walk one mile........so anything from 15 minutes to many hours.
