The cardio equipment is situated on an island in the middle of the floor, and contains only a couple of treadmills and ellipticals. They are not state-of-the-art pieces, more like home exercise equipment. A small shelf for cubbies to store jackets, etc. was just minimal. There are plenty of free weights but strength equipment is limited to racks and benches with a few other scattered pieces, no definable strength circuit. The environment is relatively uninteresting, white walls, office-grade lighting etc. and the gym is in an obscure location, a failed tourist shopping center off the highway with many vacant storefronts. It is difficult to find, and the facility layout is generally confusing for first-timers, especially with the many No Entry doors.

The cost per month was more than a medical fitness center I previously attended, which was a large facility with a vast amount of state-of-the-art equipment.

I did not find the classes particularly challenging or useful. One of the instructors got on my case for my wearing shoes during yoga, and I explained to her that I need orthotic support for my autoimmune arthritis and bursitis, as instructed by my doctor. The instructor condescendingly argued that my wearing of shoes was going to be detrimental, and she crossed a boundary with her behavior. She didn't know me, my needs, medical history, or understand my medical condition. She got personal and I was offended by that. The facility dogmatically advocates exercising barefoot, but it should not be forced upon members and members should not be condescended to if they decide barefoot is not the choice for them.

If you are just coming to the gym for short-term usage, or are a casual exerciser, then there should not be much criticism. Otherwise, you might find the facility boring after a while, like I did. Everyone has their own needs and preferences. Unfortunately, this area lacks a gym population and there are not much options.

The muscles of the foot are classified as either intrinsic or extrinsic. Intrinsic muscles are the ones in the foot and that move the toes, and the extrinsic are in the lower leg for moving the ankle. Both types help support the arches of the foot. It is important to strengthen the muscles of the foot to ensure correct posture and correct stride gate. Most footwear acts on the feet similar to a cast on a broken bone. Footwear was created a long long time ago. I have heard as long as 2500 BC. These were the tribal men who had to hunt in extreme weather conditions far from home. They found that wrapping their feet would protect them in the mountains, and aid them in combat situations. The Egyptians created a sandal that wrapped over the toes to protect them from getting stubbed. Then boots were created and so on and so forth. The perceived upgrades to the shoe were a result of the innovation of people to prevent injury to the feet, which had become cumbersome from wearing shoes to begin with. The technology today has advanced so much in footwear that we have become a clumsy species. Like wearing a cast, the shoe stabilizes the foot and limits the range of motion considerably. As a result, feet become weak. Then your feet rely on the shoe company to create the correct support for your individual need. This is what causes most knee, hip, and back problems. Warrior cultures and martial artists have been training barefoot since the beginning of time. It makes since because your feet bear the most weight of any other part of your body. Why would you make them the weakest part? The Spartan youth warriors (Meirakions) were trained barefoot through all of the seasons. Yes your feet can take the cold and snow. Of course that is not for everyone, but in a controlled environment like this fitness center you can work on making your feet stronger and your body much healthier. The first thing you will notice is that you are sorer than you have been in a long time. The reason is that muscles in your body that have been “turned off” are now activated when you take away the shoes. The next thing you will notice is that you become more aware of where you place your feet. Every step becomes deliberate which in turn increases core strength. Everyone wants a tighter tummy! The third change is that your balance and agility gets better. This means you get to feel younger and can do things that you previously thought were not possible. All of these things together can help you to get in touch with your “primal self”. This side of all people tends to get buried in the heap of stuff that is our daily routine. The good news is that the “primal” side of you lets things go, and is more focused on being alive. Stress will be greatly reduced and we could all use a little of that.

The equipment and facility is clean with good access to all equipment. If you like classes, want access to Silver Sneakers, trainers or just access to your own workout plan this is a very good place. The owner/staff are always available to help. No big locker facilities so if that is something you need this is not you place. There is a guest option available if you're visiting the area.

I am a member, and go there on the weekends, everything is nice and pretty clean. not that crowded in the early morning. everyone is nice. only thing is no lockers to lock things up and the music in there is very loud. Most everyone has there own headsets so I don't know why it is so loud. Other than that it is nice and will keep going there

I went to this gym 5-6 days a week for two years, but solely for the classes. Great pricing for them at unlimited for $30 a month. They have very dedicated instructors. If you love 5ks, they hold one every summer during Warrior Fest. They also go as a group to run Warrior Dash. You feel welcome here. Check it out!

Joined last fall as I needed to do something over the winter months. They had multiple machines of the same kind so there usually was no waiting. Different exercise classes were available but I did not do these. I know a friend who does rowing in a class there and loves it. All machines were explained when i joined and all questions were answered.
