Friendly & knowledge staff. Smaller rooms with a variety of different types of art from different time periods. Free admission. Parking was $10.

Wonderful morning exploring art. It was just enough and very enjoyable. We also loved to cafe there where we enjoyed a bite to eat.

I have been to the museum before years ago, but, wow! Is this collection huge! As someone who has a limited appreciation for art and prefers to look at "pretty pictures" this museum has something for everyone. In addition to the standard classical paintings and murals, the museum has various pieces inspired by and representing the great lakes, an exhibit inspired by American culture and history and even cinematic studies of urban life.
The romanesque theatre is something I never knew existed. In short, when coming here, it's best to set aside an entire day. We spent over four hours here and there was a lot we had to put off until next time.
The museum admission is free but they do ding you on parking, although it is well worth it.

My husband and I had five children ranging in age from 23 all the way down to 5. We were visiting family and had some time to kill so decided to check out the museum since it was free - not really knowing anything about it. None of us were prepared for the quality of art that Toledo has in it's possession! Every single one of us were blown away.
It is amazing that all of this work is hidden right here in Northwest Ohio! My oldest is an art teacher and while she knew Toledo was known for it's glass, she was unaware and absolutely astonished at the quality of European art. There were pieces here that she'd only seen in books - including a Monet waterlily - one of her favorite series of paintings ever! She was practically in tears as she told us about work after work. There are works from the likes of Van Gogh, Picasso, and a huge amount of medieval religious art you just have to see to fully appreciate. My teenage son - who is really not all that in to art at all - was mesmerized by the Ancient Egyptian, Greek, and Roman artifacts. Even the little children loved it.
Wish we had the chance to spend the entire day here. It is well worth it!

What a delightful surprise. Didn't read much of anything about this museum prior to visiting. Much bigger and impressive than I anticipated. We wish we would have planned a half day to fully go through all the exhibits. Definitely worth a visit if in the area, especially since admission is free!

We enjoyed this during our weekend getaway to this part of the state. Admission was free which is remarkable given the excellent collections and breadth of their galleries. Everyone was helpful to us that was working. As a bonus, we visited their glass house gallery just across the street and were treated to a live glass-blowing demonstration (check their schedule)! Definitely worth stopping in.

This is a world-class museum with wonderful works of art. We were under a time limit and did a quick run-through in an hour. We were unable to visit the entire second building full of glassworks. We’ll have to come back! The cafe had delicious pierogies and burgers the day we visited.

The Toledo Museum of Art is clearly one of the most underappreciated centers in United States. What is immediately struck by the gorgeous architecture and size of the main building. What becomes even more startling is the astonishing quality of the exhibits. On top of all of that the whole experience is Free. This is a must see attraction for anyone coming within 50 miles of this attraction.

A world class museum in an "average Joe" kind of Midwest city. If you love art, this is one reason to visit Toledo. Then, take a closer look and find all of the other gems of culture nearby.

This is one impressive art museum! Some of the pieces housed here made me feel as if I were in the company of royalty! Van Gogh, Monet, and many others. It is divided into older art and then more modern art. That collection was smaller. The pieces are so nicely displayed and you did not feel crowded with too much in one room. Staff was handy for questions and those we encountered were most pleasant. There are some sculptures on the grounds outside and there is the glass museum across the street that you can also visit. Free admission but you pay a bit to park. Such a nice place to visit and I would certainly recommend a stop there.

Well-lit, guarded lots are available on Grove Place behind both the main Museum building and the University of Toledo Center for the Visual Arts, as well as on Parkwood Avenue adjacent to the Glass Pavilion.
Parking is free for Museum members and $5 for nonmembers.
There is currently a lot of construction work being done on I-75 near the Museum that may effect your travels. You may want to check the Ohio Department of Transportation's website for the latest construction updates before your visit.

This is director of communications Kelly Garrow. The Museum does offer free strollers and wheelchairs for visitors. Just inquire at the front desks. The closest hotels to the Museum are the Park Inn and Grand Plaza, just three miles away in downtown Toledo. Other good options are a brand new Hampton Inn off the Secor Road exit of 475 (10 minutes) and several hotels in Perrysburg, about 15-20 minutes away on I-75 south.
