This was the last thing on my list and I had written beside it to only visit if we had extra time and wanted to. Gosh, I'm sure glad we stopped. We both thoroughly enjoyed it. So different than what I was expecting to find. The glass Chess set, the Damascus Glass caught my eye and was among my favorites. My husband enjoyed the ancient pieces. I do recommend.

The Glass Pavilion is fabulous. It is not too big but still hosts a really good and diverse collection of glass works (which we love to see). We really enjoyed wandering around the collection. Well worth visiting.

It is right across from the Museum of Art so you can stop there too.

Both are free of charge.

The beautiful Glass Pavilion is a part of The Toledo Museum of Art, which sits across the street from it. It's not surprising that a city know for glass would have a substantial collection like the one housed here. If your a glass lover like me, you'll want to pay a visit to TMA's Glass Pavilion. It's filed with an array glass from around the globe. Some of the glass goes back many centuries. Also on display are works of art made from glass that shouldn't missed. Additionally, you can watch demonstrations of glass making.

Both the Art Museum and the Glass Pavilion are free.

Everything made of glass you could possibly think of. The collection and artistry outstanding. Watched an artisan make a large glass vase. The process required the work of at least 6 individuals. It was like watching a dance or play in some ways. Every person had their job to do to bring the piece to life. The demonstration was free. The pavilion is part of the art museum, but across the street. You can pick-up a ticket when you get your art museum ticket. Well worth the visit.

This was a great place to spend a couple hours on a hot a humid afternoon. Parking was easy right across the street from the museum. I believe it was $8 to park, but the museum was free. The museum building itself is all glass both outside and inside. I think only the lavatory walls are solid. The collection was very interesting and eclectic. I enjoyed the modern pieces, and some of the specialty pieces. I was not as interested in the ancient pieces. There was a glass blowing demonstration taking place while I was there that was also interesting. The docents were friendly and helpful. There were ample places to sit and rest if you have mobility problems. Overall it is a nice way to pass an afternoon.

I rate this as an excellent museum because i learned so much from it. The docents/volunteers were generous in sharing their knowledge with us and their love of glass/art/history. The hour spent there was a mixture of amazement that glass has been around for so long ( since thousands of years b.c. ) and awe that pieces of it have survived intact for so long.

Also enjoyed seeing the many modern pieces of art glass.

Just a low-slung glass out building in the middle of what could be decent green space. The building has ugly, hotel-esque curtains that are closed more often than not. Inside, the collections are just arranged on shelves as if in a large curio cabinet.

A beautiful mixture of historic and modern glasscraft in a nice environment. Worth visiting and allowing time for when going to the art museum.

Have visited numerous times with spouse, family, and friends! Truly a great way to spend a couple of hours if you love glass objects and art. The collection ranges from antiquity to modern contemporary, with so many well-known glass artists represented, including Tiffany, Carder (Steuben), LaMonte, and Chihuly. Of course, Toledo was home to the great Libbey Glass company and the Toledo Museum of Art gave rise in the '60s to the art and science of glassmaking with glass artisans Harvey Littleton and Dominick Labino. Check the calendar for the glass-making demonstrations, special exhibits and events.

Having always been fascinated with the art/craft of glassblowing and all types of glasswork, this was a great visit! Beautiful exhibits from all over the world and different time epochs, demonstrations that weren’t the same every time, a really cool building, friendly and knowledgeable staff, and a nice cafe with yummy food and drinks! Loved it!!
