Some historic sites
2018年10月 • 家庭
What I love about Taylorsville is that you "see" a few historic things on your hikes there. First, the remnants of the Miami-Eric canal and its towpath trail are there for hiking (or for the return hike back). This was once a "super highway" that helped develop Ohio in a big way once it was open. There's also the active railroad nearby. I believe that was what was at one time the old "Dayton & Michigan" line. So, ,you can listen as the occasional train goes by. Then, you can visit and try to find the ruins of Tadmor. The ghost down destroyed by the flood was where US-40 used to pass. It's one of the few locations where the National Road has been re-routed due to the 1913 flood (this resulting in the dam that you find there at the park as well). There there's the Great Miami River. Our area's first transportation route into Dayton and the Miami Valley. Then there's the old abandoned sewage plant that is fenced off. Good for making up stories of the zombie apocalypse with younger kids. :-) Lots of transportation history there to simply hike through and enjoy. Good for Cub Scout hikes combined with history.

Nice nature

The Taylorsville Metro Park is a great place to view nature at its finest. I looked for a pair of eagles, but could not spot.

Great park that caters to everyone at any age. plenty to do for the very active or those looking to just relax on a long stroll or bike ride. Plenty of parking and very well maintained. Going off the path is okay and I encourage it to explore everything.

A relaxing treasure

The Dayton Metro Parks are one of the greatest treasures of the area. I took a little time out to enjoy the Taylorsville Metro Park. It is a serene treasure we all could frequent more often.

Tons to offer

Great location for those who like to run, bike, hike, or anything outdoors. Very clean and we'll maintained. The fishing at the dam is pretty decent as well. We always enjoy our visit no matter the time of the year. You must check it out!

A complete park
2017年6月 • 家庭
How do you miss a 1300 acre park on the edge of a metropolitan area? Well, all the traffic whizzing along nearby I-75 and most of the local traffic on highway 40 does. Don't make the same mistake. The Great Miami Bikeway, Buckeye Trail, and North Country Trail run together through the park's central corridor. You can fish in the river or the poplar ponds if you have an Ohio fishing license. There are also lots of picnic areas and hiking trails that you will probably have to yourself as we did on a weekday.. Two other metro parks are nearby- Englewood to the west and Carriage Hill to the east.
