A brilliant, well priced attraction, well worth the trip.
We took the “natural wonder” tour due to being short on time and unable to take both. We were led by Evan, who was very friendly, personable and informative - even with the terrible puns - and genuinely enjoyed the facts and information.
The gift shop is high quality and also very reasonably priced.
Well worth your time if you’re ever in this part of the world. Thank you!

This was a fun visit. In winter they do a hybrid tour of the historic and natural wonders tour. I enjoyed the natural wonders section the best. The colors and formations were fantastic. They have the lighting set so you see the formations to best effect.

We’ve been in caves all over the US and this really is the most colorful cave we have been in. It’s truly a beautiful cave. So many colors and variety. Maybe not as many or as huge formations, though the ones featured here are lovely, but the colors really set it apart. Camera doesn’t do it justice. Around 70.00 for a family of 4 to get in (2 adults and 2 kids) and it was totally worth it. 1 hour long tour. Great for all ages.

Having visited a number of caves around the world, my expectations of Ohio Caverns were low. I was pleasantly surprised, however. The formations and colors were beautiful. I recommend this if you are a fan of caves and happen to be in southern Ohio.

Loved the tour and the tour guide but not the greatest of the caverns. Formations are relatively smaller.
Be careful driving to and from the cavern. It is a country road with no speed signs. You will be ticketed just because.

Drove up from Cincinnati to see Ohio Caverns. We knew we screwed up when we pulled into the parking lot: It was crowded. (We came on a Saturday and didn’t get there until 1:15pm). Come earlier and consider buying your tickets online ahead of time. We had to kill 2.5 hours till the next available tour. We did the combo package (Natural Wonders & Historic) for $30/person (a bit pricey). We drove 10 minutes into West Liberty to eat lunch and ice cream. Natural Wonders tour was the best. Very pretty. Bring a jacket or hoodie, etc. It’s 54 degrees in the cave. There are some tight spots so, large people beware. Try to stay up front with the Tour Guide do you can hear them. Our Guide was Anna. She was impressive, confident, knowledgeable, and nice. This is the one tour to do if you can’t do both. Kids will prefer this tour as well. Warning: 60 step staircase to exit the tour. After our Natural Wonders tour, we returned to the ticket station to learn that we took our tours out of order (our 2nd tour had already left). J.D., the ticket dude, offered us a refund or pass for a future tour. We were pretty annoyed because it was not our fault. JD admitted they screwed up. To make things right, he had Anna give us a personal Historic tour. That was very nice and good customer service. Kudos to JD. Anna did a great job again. It was a very nice experience. The property is clean and well maintained. Modern buildings; Clean bathrooms. They desperately need an indoor food option (there was a food truck selling BBQ but, you had to sit outside to eat and it was hot and VERY humid). Free, easy parking.

Spectacular caverns (so glad we discovered this), very informative tour (thank you, Steven), and lovely grounds for a harvest host location. The town of Bellafontaine is only about 15 minutes from the caverns and what a hidden gem. We’ll be visiting again. Thanks to all the caverns staff for a wonderful and welcoming experience.

This is a walking tour through a lighted cave. Our guide was very knowledgeable and informative and the cave was awesome. At the end of the tour you are going up a flight of about 60 steps. Great work out for the legs!!

The 125th Anniversary Lantern Discovery Tour is Amazing. To see how these beautiful Caverns may have looked before modern times, by lantern light only, is an incredible, cant miss, experience. The tour guides are fantastic and very knowledgeable.

Quick day trip to the caverns. We did the last day of the winter tours. We enjoyed our tour guides and appreciated the small group of others we came with. The gift shop is cute and has several good options for all age ranges.
This is a rain or shine activity I’d bring a light jacket and shoes you don’t mind getting slightly wet!

I know it's a matter of opinion, but if only doing one tour, would Natural Wonder or Historic be better?

About 2/3 of the people that only do one tour, take the Natural Wonder. It is more decorated with cave formations than the Historic Tour area. I hope this helps you plan your visit!

I think he would be fine. I cannot think of any time that he would feel panicky. We did both tours. The steps getting out were the killer for me!!!!

Para cualquiera de los recorridos, es de $ 19 por adulto, $ 10 por niño (5-12 años). Los niños menores de 5 años no tienen cargo. The cavern tour route lies underground, but the elevation of the tour path is almost 300 feet higher elevation than downtown Columbus, Ohio! No worries about flooding. Thanks to those that responded.

We sure are! The Ohio Caverns is a favorite thing to do with "Dad". The doors open at 9:00 a.m. and the last tour begins at 5:00 p.m.
Does a child above the age of 12 need to be accompanied by an adult?

Hi. I might not be the best person to answer this Q. The safest option is giving them a call at (937) 465-4017.
However, based on my own experience with the (sub)terrain on the spot on one hand and the safe parenting practice on the other hand, I will recommend an adult companion tour for any person under 16-17. The place is well-lit and paved with observant tour guides, but safety first, you know.

Hello! From May 1-September 30, we have a portion of the cavern open that is fully handicap accessible. It is called the Limestone tour, and is in a part of a new section we opened in 2012.
