Beautiful Views , Peaceful, Great Fishing and the trail s well mapped , lots of wildlife and some trails may be difficult

Very cold in March but caught 2-3 fish. Great for kids that love the outdoors. The signs say that you need to pay park fee but we only stayed one hour and didn’t need to pay.

Lots of cabin rentals in the area....but, they book way in advance! CALL AHEAD! Also, helicopter rides over the lake are an awesome way to see the fall foliage, etc. Beautiful.

The Broken Bow I used to know and the one I visit now are two entirely different places. The secret is out and no longer is BB the place for the avid hunter or fly fisherman - or even just a nice place for a weekend family getaway. It's bombarded with groups of 20- or 30-somethings (who've never touched a fishing pole) that are over crowding in the cabin they've rented so they can day drink into the wee hours of the morning while blasting their tunes as if the other cabin dwellers nearby would appreciate the free DJ service. For the record, we don't.
I may sound like a Boomer (I'm actually Gen X) but who cares. With the mega overbuilding of new rental cabins, bad tourist trap restaurants and stores in area, the charm of what BB once was has taken a huge hit to the gut. The traffic alone is just incredibly hard to fathom and no matter how many roads get expanded, I don't think it will keep up with this "progress". The fishing holes over fished. The trails - overrun with new hikers still learning trail etiquette. It's actually pretty sad. Now, for those of you who have been recently introduced to BB - good on ya. Maybe it will still do something for people that are just looking for an escape for a weekend. But for us, even though we still and probably always will love this little gem of a place, once the new Casino comes to town, that'll be it for us. The magic of the Broken Bow we knew more than a decade ago will be faded into a distant memory.

Contact Hochatown Pontoon and Boat Rentals for an awesome experience on the lake. The lake was clean and not overcrowded on a weekday. We enjoyed exploring various areas of the lake, floating in inflatables, jumping off rocks into lake, and tubing. Beautiful scenery!

sister!!! Cabins are amazing down there. The lake was beautiful lot s of things to do there as well. Need to go check it out if your outdoor adventures

We drove along the scenic lake and hiked the friendship trail . The pay to park system worked for us with ATT but some Verizon people had issues. Trails and scenery were beautiful and we saw many deer up close.

Great lake. Lots of places to explore. Rocky bottom close to shore.
Tried our hand at fishing with lures, bit didn’t know where or with what to use. Enjoyed just exploring shore line.

Broken Bow Lake has so many different places to explore. We would recommend this as a place to visit and stay. Many different place to explore.

Broken Bow Lake is a beautiful spot to escape and enjoy nature in eastern Oklahoma. We hiked several of its trails and saw its rushing rapids. There are water sports available plus nearby cabins and campgrounds for lodging. Definitely worth a trip if you love the outdoors.

If you like wineries, there are now 4 there and 2 breweries. There is tons of hiking, you can zipline and depending on how cold it is, you may be able to canoe or kayak down the river. Most cabins you rent have a hot tub so that's a fun way to end the night. We love going to Broken Bow

I would recommend going to the marina for prices. They have houseboats, ski boats, and jet skis for rental.

We rode on a jet boat at Jet Boat Joe's. The area where you take off from was really nice for swimming, picnicking, and overnight tent stays.

Where are the best spots to swim in Broken Bow? Are there less-populated spots that are fun swimming holes? We are unfamiliar with the area so any details you can provide are super helpful. Thanks in advance!!

When we went, it was in December and it was very cold. I rarely travel during the summer months but there are different area of broken bow you can go to. I’ve seen people canoeing before. Lots of the lake areas are very hidden. Lots of winding roads. I stopped and asked a ranger and he guided me in the right direction. Hope some of this helps. Have a safe and fun trip.

I’m certain there are. We saw the cabins & primitive spaces, but the park is HUGE, with at least 4 to 5 or more entrances off the main highway. We drove for MILES thru the park and down near a marina area that was very large, with boats larger than I’ve seen on many lakes. Golf course at the far end away from town of Broken Bow.

Yes, you can rent canoes, kayaks, water ski, and cruise boats at the Broken Bow Lake Marina.
Can I pitch a tent and camp? If so would these tent spots be close to an indoor type of restroom facility? How much does it cost to have a spot to pitch a tent?

Yes there is tent camping at all of the camp areas and all are pretty nice. Some are close to the water. Try Carson creek south. Nice restroom and shower nearby. Not sure of cost but guessing around $10 a night.

There are a ton of options at many price points. We booked a lovely two master suite cabin the first time for $220 a couple. The place was fabulous. Next we booked a cabin in the state park and had to reserve that six months in advance! $190 for two rooms, kitchen right on the river (those go fast!)
