We rented the 'big cabin'. It has a beautiful view of the lake, well equipped and quiet. 2 queen beds, 2 twin beds, full bathroom and stocked kitchen. Outdoor charcoal grill and fire pit ring just off the back porch. The most loved place for us, was the covered back porch. We enjoyed watching the rain, people canoeing and close enough to the fishing dock to send the kids to fish.
We checked out the 3 smaller cabins thru the window, and here's a couple notes. I noticed they had 1 full/queen bed, separate room from 2 twins. Mini fridge and microwave. Bathrooms with cold water showers are right across the street, near swing set. Outdoor grill and fire pit ring nearby. Very quiet and cute geese to watch. There was also a small boat ramp near these cabins to launch a canoe or kayak.

Clayton lake state park is a true diamond in the rough. Built in 1935 it still retains its charm of the past. I cannot stress this enough this place is remote and quite, no water sports are allowed on the lake only swimming and boating. If you book through the week there will be days you will have the park to yourself most if not all of the day.
After 85 years the park is starting to show some wear, but is in the first stages of getting an update. Still state owned the park is being managed by a local community group and has a new on site manager dedicated to making your stay and enjoyable one. I really enjoyed my time here and plan to go back to see how the improvements are advancing.

Contrary to other reviews, there are 4 hot water showers (pay type) at the north end of the campground. I've been here numerous times over the years but it has really gone down hill since there is no longer a host on site. It appears that the facilities are no longer maintained. The showers appeared to have last been cleaned at the beginning of season, if then. There is mold, dirt, hair, soap scum and more throughout the 2 of 4 showers that were unlocked. These bathrooms, while somewhat cleaner but not well maintained, did not even have any waste baskets. Trash cans used to be throughout the park but now only a couple of dumpsters remain. Camping sites have always be primitive, at best, without any level places to put a tent. Other than the new shower house, the facilities appear to be from the 50's and in archaic condition with only cold water available. Camping rates have gone up, again, and there are certainly better options available for what is being charged vs what is provided. OK State parks have really let this place go to hell. It needs a major facelift, new facilities, level tent sites, REGULAR MAINTENANCE and more in order to charge the amounts that they have listed for camp sites. This was our last event at this park - I doubt that it will be missed.

There are 30 or more camping sites. All have a concrete picnic table and small grill. Some have electric. There are at least 2 restrooms available on each side of the park. Showers are all cold water. There are several large pavilions for groups. There are playgrounds. There are at least 3 different swimming areas. I camped out alone, in a tent. I felt very safe. I will definitely be visiting again with family and children. It is a very laid back recreation area. You pick your spot, move in and the ranger comes around in the evening to collect your fee. He does not have change and have your ID handy. I was serenaded by many different kinds of frogs as I was going to sleep. Wonderful experience!

Stopped by for a quick walk around the park. So beautiful. Unspoiled. Peaceful. Serene. Uncrowded.
Even though the park is adjacent to a highway, there is so little traffic that there is no issue of road noise.
A nice gem.

We had heard so many good things about Oklahoma State Parks, being from Missouri we thought we'd check one out. This one ruined it for us. The park host was rude, the campsites were dirty, the showers and bathrooms were locked half the time and when we went to ask the park host to unlock them he said he didn't feel like it, that they would be unlocked in the morning. There were also used syringes laying outside the bathrooms in the primitive camp area. I ended up leaving a day early and heading back because we just couldn't stand it anymore. Don't get me wrong the setting is beautiful, but the whole park could use a good cleaning AND a new park host. There were also several stray dog roaming the park.
It stormed a few nights we were there and the camp ground host came around each morning afterwards and asked why we were still here...really? We will probably not waste our time with this campground anymore.

The park though not very big has a real quiet peaceful setting about it that just makes you want to crawl up next to a tree and fall asleep. The park seems well kept as well as the roads in and out.

We come to Clayton Lake at least once a year, usually in the spring. We love the fall too. When it's just the two of us, we stay in a "primitive" cabin. There are three of these cabins. They have a bedroom with two twin beds, a small table for eating, two folding chairs, a counter, some walls hooks, and a fireplace. The bathroom has a toilet, sink, and shower. There are also outdoor picnic tables and lots of trees! We love fishing in this small lake, building a campfire, and sitting outside listening to the sounds of nature.
When we come with kids and grandkids, we stay in the family cabin. It has a full kitchen, two bedrooms, bathroom, dining table for six, living room with sleeper sofa, fireplace, and covered porch with a great view of the lake. It's close to playground equipment and a swimming area in the lake.
The lake has a dock that grands used for fishing.
We love this scenic spot in Oklahoma!

Good campground areas with clean shower/bathrooms. Nice RV parking. Newer cabins also. Easily accessible to fish from land or on small boat/kayak. Clayton (city) close enough to service for food/gas/etc.
