Currently travelling the Route 66 with family, we arrived at the museum where we were greeted by a lady cashier who was more concerned about telling us the price of the advert ($2000) to put into the Route 66 Passport , and that we would not get the stamp unless we entered and paid for the museum. We have stopped at pretty much all of the attractions on route from Chicago and have been welcomed in with such warm friendly family run businesses, with people willing to talk about their experiences. This was unfortunately the shock visit and I’m sure the museum is fantastic but when as a ‘Business’ you are more concerned about the cost of getting a family of 11 through the door before you have even said hello we had already checked out……

We are very sorry that you had a bad experience at the Route 66 Museum.
Sometimes the museum is extremely busy and the gift shop staff were trying to get you checked in first and inform you about the museum galleries.
We do need a check in area when entering the front door to take care of the passport books and hope to have this availoable in the near future.
We appreciate your interest in the Route 66 Museum.

If you’re driving across Route 66 it can get a little bit overdone in the museum department. Luckily, I’m just doing a weekend so load me up on all the retro stuff. This goes through by decade with some music and video to go along with each.

This is a great museum and well thought out. It’s laid out by decades and there’s quite a bit to see in each decade. There’s a self-guided audio tour in each room, music, and plaques to read. It goes through the whole history of the road from its inception to its decommissioning. We spent just over 2 hours there and felt like we saw everything.

Great little museum that lays out the history of the iconic highway and ties in the trends of the times. Juke music available in each room.

Quite possibly the best Route 66 museum that we visited, not too expensive to entre, a really good selection of displays and cars on show and friendly staff who know what they are talking about. Also has easy parking right outside.

What fun!
This museum offers many things and it was fun to see some things we can relate to from our own lives.
The woman at the desk was very friendly and helpful.
Recommended (we'll be back).

Great museum! The best one I’ve been to about Route 66. The layout is fun. Designed as a walk through the decades and the history of this famous route. Lots of pictures, memorabilia, and information. Outside is a little dinner that was popular along the route. It is tiny and reminded us of a mini Waffle House. Check it out!

This museum is so well done. It takes you from the beginning (when route 66 was built) to the end (when it was decommissioned). Every section represents a different decade, and music from that decade will play through the speakers. It was so nostalgic! We had a great time reading all about the history of the mother road. $7 admission fee and worth every cent. The one down the road in Elk City is good, too, but this one is ALL route 66. It's definitely a must stop.

This is a really nice little museum full of information about Route 66. There is a lot to see and the people are really nice. We did this museum first and later stopped at the National Route 66 Museum in Elk City. The museum in Elk City had one small section on Route 66 - the rest of it was local historical items. If you're wanting to learn about Route 66 and you can only do one museum, do the one in Clinton.

Hi... I would say an hour minimum just to take it all in, but you could easily spend 2-3 hours there if you wanted.

The admission is only $5 and worth much more. They have done a fabulous job of the displays and the attached shop is worthy of a good look too as very reasonably priced for every conceivable Route 66 souvenir you could imagine. Enjoy
