This museum is housed in an old and beautiful building and is literally filled with interesting items that were commonly found in small drugstores over the past century. There is so much to see inside the museum that one could spend numerous hours enjoying the displays. The adjoining Apothecary Garden is a delight to see as well.

A cool look back old healthcare back in “old” days. Makes me appreciate what we have today. A good stop when in Guthrie area.

Extensive Collection of all things you might find in a drug store and or pharmacy from the 1800's thru the 1960's.. well curated and really interesting stop

Everything in downtown Guthrie , Oklahoma is historical. including the buildings as Guthrie is the first Capitol of Oklahoma. The museum houses the collections of many of the frontier "pharmacists'. The wall includes the degrees and liscenses of those who were the pharmacists for the Indian territory. The apothecary includes medicines made for every ailment, including pluto water from French Lick , Indiana, pleasant pills and the "poisons " , cannabis, opium, cocaine. A registry which required signatures of those individuals who requested the poisons, includes reasons for the requests , including "medicinal, habit and other reasons. Fascinating piece of history. Though they only charge 5.00 per family, a little extra goes a long way to keep this piece of history preserved.

Loved visiting this museum in historic Guthrie. Great territorial architecture with tin ceiling and old-time soda fountain. Wonderful collection of old bottles, medicine, equipment & photographs. Definitely recommend stopping in when you’re nearby & also check out the apothecary garden outside with plants and herbs complete with signs explaining what their medicinal properties 🌿

A fascinating step back in time to see what folks were doing to care for their health. From unusual inventions to old remedies and medicines to memorabilia, your imagination can get stimulated to what life was like years ago.
Poisons including strychnine and addicting drugs like cocaine were dispensed, only requiring a reason why in the register. "Habit" or "Medicinal" are some of the reasons given for cocaine. Companies still around today once dispensed what is today illegal drugs.
I suppose many folks donated to the thousands of items on display as the aisles and display cabinets help give you a feel for what an old time drugstore may have been like.
We've been here several times before but took time to explore more and was provided a very rewarding experience for our time. Admission is by donation
and a big thumbs up for visitors to Guthrie to pay a visit.

The staff was very friendly and helpful to answer any questions. It was interesting stepping back in history to see what was happening throughout each era in that city. It’s worth a look.

Very interesting site. Plenty of old stuff. The owner was not there, but two girls who were doing an internship for school, studying to be pharmacist, were very kind and helpful. My well read wife taught them a few things about old medications.

To start, this place does have a $5 per person charge. If you are not into this type of thing, then go shopping in the cute stores around this little town square. Also - their is an herb garden next to this building you can go through for free. This drug store has a nice historic representation of a store, pharmacist and dentist combo.

It was a rainy day and we decided to take a drive.. We spent the entire afternoon at this little museum in the heart of downtown Guthrie.It was fascinating. Our ages are 75 and 61 and we found packages of medicine from our childhood.
